All the cool moves are belong to you.

Oniken: Unstoppable Edition, an 8-bit celebration of over-the-top action movies from the 80s and 90s, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 70% launch discount.

Global destruction! Mechanically-enforced oppression! Hardcore swag! All the best elements of the consistently gritty, disarmingly silly, and thoroughly entertaining action movies of yore are here. You are a death-dealing ninja mercenary, aiding the resistance in their hopeless battle against the tyrannical Oniken. Your reasons are your own. Your skills are your own. You are on your own. Yeah, that sounded way cooler unspoken.

Oniken is a pixelated bonanza of side-scrolling destruction, challenging boss fights, and endearing callbacks to the action movies and cartoons that got our blood pumping back in the day. But unlike their protagonists, you should be prepared to die. A lot. Would be a shame if you let that stop you from reaching those sweet cinematic cutscenes, though.

Unleash your inner action hero and rain death upon the villainous Oniken, DRM-free on GOG.com. To mark its arrival, JoyMasher's Odallus: The Dark Call is also 70% off.
The 70% discounts will last until August 31, 12:59 PM UTC.

Oniken looks pretty cool! What engine does it use?
Ah, yes, the game that cost me a keyboard. I think I'll pass this time :P

YYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

I bought this game back in 2012 (on GG or Desura, I don't remember) and loved it even if I sucked at it. I'm very glad it finally found its way on GOG as it's a really good throwback to the glorious NES console days. Since it's currently at a very low price, I didn't hesitated and bought it a second time here.

Heavily recommended ^o^

This sounds like something I'd enjoy, but I don't appreciate the regional pricing, not to mention the ridiculous $0.10 store credit that it comes with while it's discounted.
So, can you play this level by level or does it reset all your progress once you die/quit?

Level by level.

karnak1: Please, someone enlighten me. Is this game the one which which supposedly was once previously refused/unable to be sold on GOG?
Or am I making confusion with another "metroidvania" game?

Fairfox: Are you thinking of Axiom Verge? Either way (probs dev's choice thar), I am teh sad about that one.
So there's really no chance GOG will see Axiom Verge? That's really sad. That game looked pretty cool...
Man, i really got the urge to play shadow of the beast again after watching that trailer.
I think il buy this later.
Wishlisted.

There's always a chance. There are games sold here which were apparently declined two or three times before finally being accepted.

Hi! this version has lots of fixes:
-improved controller support
-new graphical tweaks (many enemies received a redraw treatment)
-gameplay tweaks (bike sections have rappid fire)
-no more random drops from the itens
-fixed the problem that some users had with long loading screens
-old tv filter
-drm free achievements

hope you guys enjoy it. =)
Also I`ll update Odallus pretty soon, there`s a small problem with the Deeds (drm free achievements) and we`re having to recode the deeds all over again that`s why it`s taking some time.

Be sure to check out GOG Connect for those people that have already bought your game elsewhere.
Nice. I guess I'll make it a double-feature purchase then with both Oniken and Odallus. :)

Yes. It was indeed Axiom Verge I was thinking of. Thanks for helping me.
