Removing the criminal element.

Freedom Force Pack, that contains two strategy/RPGs bursting with uncontainable super-powers, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com with a 66% launch discount. Buying each game individually grants you a 50% discount, instead.

Oh, the alien scum really did it this time. They've bathed Earth's scum in a powerful catalyst known only as Energy X and now a whole legion of super-powered troublemakers is wreaking havoc across our fair planet. There is only one logical course of action in order to contain the situation: gather a Freedom Force of similarly powered heroes and set out to kick the criminals' spandex-ed behinds.

You will have the option to either create your own superhero or choose one of the available ones before you join Freedom Force in their globetrotting effort to bring justice upon the beefed-up evil-doers. Most of the spectacular butt-kicking will take place in the colourful streets of Patriot City but the heroes will eventually have to unleash their unique powers in other dimensions and time periods. Especially when someone disturbs the space-time continuum, leading to the historically inaccurate victory of the Axis forces during World War II. But don't go fixing those history books just yet, unless it is to include a chapter chronicling the epic campaign known as Freedom Force vs The Third Reich.

Pick your comic book-inspired superhero and smack some sense into those overpowered villains with the Freedom Force Pack, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 66% bundle discount and the 50% individual discounts will last until April 5, 13:59 BST / 5:59 AM PDT / 8:59 AM EDT.

markrichardb: <---- Would be kinda weird if I didn't pay this thread a visit.

Freedom Force is a special series from the acclaimed studio Irrational Games. Collect a squad of superheroes, take them through a huge single-player campaign, upgrade their powers, and have them kick butt by issuing orders between space-bar pauses. They deliver cheesy quips, their costumes look like they were made in a garage, and the villains are moustache twirling cartoons. I love these games. The character origins are my favourite in-game clips to watch along with Max Payne’s graphic novel.

tinyE: I was wondering where you were. :P

Just don't let your icon fool noobs; that character is weak as hell! XD
He absolutely sucks, until those levels where he's suddenly the MVP. Weirdly, Mentor is one of the few heroes who has potential access to electricity-based powers (I think the only other one is Sea Urchin), which makes him extremely powerful against mechanical enemies.
Good to see not only the return of Freedom Force vs The Third Reich. but the arrival of Freedom Force as well!

Matewis: I played the demo 10 or more years ago. All I remember was taking down lamp posts and hitting people with it. I think they were random pedestrians?

But perhaps I am remembering it wrong. Perhaps they were baddies after all :P
avatar
triplett: No, you remember correct. Causing harm to NPCs affects your score though, making it harder to level up your characters. So you don't really want to just rip up a lamp post (or pick up a car) and start flailing about. There are plenty of baddies to take out your aggressions on, and in some levels some civilians may not be who they seem to be.
Ah cool thanks. I would've been worried if I couldn't inflict my wrath on the local populace :)

darthspudius: Nice, any advantages over the Steam copy? As in, does it run properly?
avatar
EnforcerSunWoo: GOG got the game running properly, fixing the sound issues as well as the closed fist/path finding bug. I just checked it myself.
Never could play the steam version due to those bugs.
Something just occurred to me. Is The Third Reich updated? I bought it from here along time ago.
"Is The Third Reich updated?"

XD

It's not tagging as "new" in my library, so probably not.

Maybe I'm loopy but I'm still laughing at that. XD It just sounds so silly when taken out of context.

I had a good laugh at it, you're not alone. :D
Sweet! I have it on disk, but wanted it on digital, as my disk has seen better days. My Steam version is iffy at best, sometimes it works, often it does not. So the game has just sat on a disk for over a year in my DVR.

Curser bug fixed, 2 dollars,, No brainier here. One of my top 5 fav games of all time and i started gaming with Pong :) So much replay value as well, as they have tons of characters, and how much you level them by taking them on missions and who gets the EXP canisters makes for very different play experiences.

FYI, if you don't like real time with pause, you can also scale the speed to slower or faster if you like.. Game plays really cool at 1/2 speed.. It's like the old school bionic man TV show.. make the sound effects.. dununununnnnnnnnnaaa crash! as the guy goes flying in slow motion.. very cool!

One last thing, i would not call the game liner, i would call it episodic. The game takes place in episodes like a comic book, with each epp having a boss fight.. I think there are 5 or so depending on how you count them. Plus they have one shot missions, that jump in an out at different times to break things up.

Lets hope the game sells well, and irrational gets their heads outta their butts and gives us another game in this series, i can only imagine how great they could make one now with todays engines

Sorry, but Irrational Games shut down two years ago.
