Removing the criminal element.

Freedom Force Pack, that contains two strategy/RPGs bursting with uncontainable super-powers, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com with a 66% launch discount. Buying each game individually grants you a 50% discount, instead.

Oh, the alien scum really did it this time. They've bathed Earth's scum in a powerful catalyst known only as Energy X and now a whole legion of super-powered troublemakers is wreaking havoc across our fair planet. There is only one logical course of action in order to contain the situation: gather a Freedom Force of similarly powered heroes and set out to kick the criminals' spandex-ed behinds.

You will have the option to either create your own superhero or choose one of the available ones before you join Freedom Force in their globetrotting effort to bring justice upon the beefed-up evil-doers. Most of the spectacular butt-kicking will take place in the colourful streets of Patriot City but the heroes will eventually have to unleash their unique powers in other dimensions and time periods. Especially when someone disturbs the space-time continuum, leading to the historically inaccurate victory of the Axis forces during World War II. But don't go fixing those history books just yet, unless it is to include a chapter chronicling the epic campaign known as Freedom Force vs The Third Reich.

Pick your comic book-inspired superhero and smack some sense into those overpowered villains with the Freedom Force Pack, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 66% bundle discount and the 50% individual discounts will last until April 5, 13:59 BST / 5:59 AM PDT / 8:59 AM EDT.
Has anyone else been unable to continue past the first mission in the original game? Choosing "Mission Briefing" plays a sound effect but doesn't actually do anything..

Did you talk to the guy? i forget his name, but he runs off around a corner after the building blows up. I have seen a bug happen in this area on occasion, the game goes black. Can you load the auto-save and try again?

word to the wise, Save after every mission, or Right before you talked to a guy at the end of a mission with a ? mark over their head.. or is it an ! i forget. It's just a habit i formed by random bugs/crashes that can happen.

jimbob0i0: GOG any chance of getting the Bonus Character Disc as an extra here?
avatar
JudasIscariot: We'll need to look into it :)
Cheers Judas ... I still have my bonus CD saved on my server but it'll be nice for everyone else :)

Just confirmed it still works with the GOG version - not that I expected any different :)
I always, somehow, mixing that title with "Freedom Fighters" and getting my hope up.... damn...
When I saw the PACK after freedom force, I did a happy dance. So much so I didn't even notice the take 2 thing until considerably later.

So you had to do a double take?

... Sorry.

It's ok. Shit happens.
Yes! Finally you got the first title of the series! Instabuy.

Haha I have done that before. Made me sad. :P

markrichardb: He absolutely sucks, until those levels where he's suddenly the MVP. Weirdly, Mentor is one of the few heroes who has potential access to electricity-based powers (I think the only other one is Sea Urchin), which makes him extremely powerful against mechanical enemies.
Man O War. That guy wrecks everything in the Mr. Mechanical story.

My favorite thing to do in the game is to level up El Diablo's explosive powers and level up Manbot's transferral powers and have them fly around together. Diablo can throw a maximum strength nuke at the bad guys and then Manbot can give him an instant recharge, allowing Diablo to do another one immediately. By the time Diablo has finished his second explosion, Manbot's recharged enough to do another transferral. The dev team must have realized this makes everything too easy because Diablo just sort of vanishes from the latter part of the game :)

Tombstone in Third Reich also does. Using him in those missions where you fight tanks is almost essential.

I always hated Bullet the most.

Great. I already have the sequel which I bought on some "farewell promo" right before it was removed from catalog and I love it. This game is super fun mix of RPG and tactics with cool story and characters parodying typical superheroes comic books. If first one is even better then can't wait to play it!

Good to see whole series on GOG.

That might have been to stop you from going full Zack Snyder on entire city blocks. :)

I took him quite a lot, he was useful on timed missions where bad guys are out wreaking the city (meanwhile Man-Bot is way back there moving like an elderly snail. Come on you tin can!) Admittedly Bullet’s armour was like wet tissue paper. He was a great distraction but not the type to go toe to toe with the meaner enemies. If he had been introduced at the start, he could probably solo the first few hours with ease.
These games are awesome.... Love Man-Bot..... What a legend. How can someone hate Bullet?... He was great...

BoBFiSh: I can't confirm the first game working but I have the second from when GOG first had it released on here, that always ran fine for me and I never had any problems with the controls at all.

triplett: Both games run flawlessly under Wine, so run well on modern operating systems that matter. :-)

* I'm playing through my original copy of FF1 from retail CD on Ubuntu under Wine right now. I'm assuming the GOG version will run as well.
The game has always run well in Wine, but not in post-XP Windows. Its one of those rare instances where Wine is superior Windows completely.

darthspudius: Nice, any advantages over the Steam copy? As in, does it run properly?
avatar
EnforcerSunWoo: GOG got the game running properly, fixing the sound issues as well as the closed fist/path finding bug. I just checked it myself.
Awesome. I might have to buy the game again. For the third time.
