ChrisGamer300: Due to complains that a game that features apes and bananas can be seen as racist in todays society, we have ultimately decided to change apes and bananas for oranges and giraffes to avoid any confusion, thank you for understanding.

So yup too risky putting down money for this game.
avatar
firstpastthepost: What makes you think giraffes can't be construed as racist? :)
Hahaha, that's something.

I guess if you just try hard enough to find something to be racist then everything is possible but that's also the worst part of it when you go look for it intentionally.

This reminds me of Trump and/or Drumpf, I demand an apology.

i_hope_you_rot: Don't know about you but i'm fed up with these political themed games .
There isn't much politics in this game. It's much less serious than the Beholder series. There are also some supernatural elements to some of the scenarios and some of the scenarios are improbable to the point of absurdity.

There is one joke about Hitler not being right wing enough to conquer the world. Also if you think that Tolkien was racist against Orcs you might want to avoid this game.

Demand all you like because i don't give out apologies !

Yes i know it was a joke, just making sure because this is the internet after all and too often people take harmless stuff as insults.

ChrisGamer300: Exactly but this was never a point in what other people might think just like Chuchel, it's a point of what you get when you buy the game and how it might change and turn into in the future when all hopes of refunds has expired and that result is unknown whether it's for it's benefit, detriment or just makes it crap.

I did exaggerate ofc but at first glance it seem just like the thing some people might get upset over especially when other games get affected because some idiot might connect bananas and apes, after Chuchel this no longer seems as far fetched as it once did.

This game and similar games as Papers Please don't appeal to me either way so no loss here.

gamesfreak64: yes today we have too many easily offended and 'upset' people in real life you can recognise them, 99% is recognised with ease... online its a little harder, unless its on facebook where they share tons of videos and images all of themself, real pictures.... good thing is i dont have social media and i am very happy i dont have them.
Anyway i see lots times the word snowflakes used in may posts and in as many replies.. mainly twitter replies, dont have twitter will never get twitter but i enjoy reading all the nonsense , and all the easily hurt people (seems they compare them with snowflakes, dont know for sure but when i watched the people crying after a certain dude became pres. (wont mention the name to avoid the easily hurted) and it seems they call the 'snowflakes'))

Anyway when i see people crying for nothing like the forementioned election i see the word snowflakes .
People on Internet are as easily offended, as they are fast to pass judgment about anything.
Both states are unjustified/unfounded, both to being cultivated and distracting.
And both are properties of immature/"shaken" personalities.
There are a bunch of psychological studies, overexaggerating my point, with the conclusion being nevertheless, that social media are the epitome of desocialization.

I like the concept of this game, in the genre of games on mass surveillance but still very original.

However, the card of the game should report the presence of the achievements.
I can't help but mildly roll my eyes at seeing another politics based game rolling onto GOG like a tumbleweed.

I had my fill with Papers, Please.

gamesfreak64: anyway political themed games are hard to avoid, in a way every game might contain some political parts or politics involved.
I agree. Of course there is a difference when politics may be the main theme of a game.
But often people complaining about politics in games only have found out about it now, when in fact most games have contained politics to some extent for a long time.

This is GOG, not some crappy iPhone store thingy: Here we can just revert to an older version of the game!

That is a lot less true than the statement makes it sound.

GOG does not offer every version of every game. Rather, it only offers limited options for reversion. And even that limit amount of reversion requires Galaxy, which not everyone uses.

I'm sure GOG is not going to be leaving any version of Churchel that keeps the character as black available on the site. If they did, then SJWs would call GOG racist, and the GOG decision makers know that, so they will avoid it by simply removing all black versions of Churchel from the site.

And likewise for any other game that becomes censored in the future due to SJWs.
You can download and archive the installers of the versions you like. It requires a bit of work (and attention in case of newer games which get updates) but in the end it's no better and no worse than the good old days where you had to guard the CD/DVD/floppies). Actually it's slightly better because you can backup the installer in multiple locations for extra safety or as part of your normal backup routine.

Although I personally use Galaxy for my normal gaming my inner paranoia demon requires the presence of standalone installers. Additionally, if you start craving a game with a bigger footprint it's usually much quicker to plugin the external backup HDD than installing it via the 'net.

Exactly. If you are concerned about this kind of stuff but don't want to use GOG Galaxy: Just keep your installers.

[anti-SJW nonsense]
In the meantime, while you are developing your conspiracy theories, us GOG users who bought the game can download the current version of Chuchel (2.0.0) AND ALSO rollback to the original one (1.0.0).
