It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

leon30: Your problem seems that flash/java or whatever technology GOG is using for those parts is missing from you machine - either it is not installed or it's blocked, didn't you get some notification when trying to load chat, btw how long did you waited for it to load, because I sometimes need to stay on the chat page for a good minute or two in order for it to load?

Impaler26: I already thought about flash/java problems too but i have both installed and every other site which uses them works fine. I don't even get to the chat page. Whenever i click on chat it just switches to a blank screen and doesn't even try to load, no matter how long i let it sit.
That's strange, I know you've tried with Chrome and Mozilla, but I'll still recommend you to try with one portable browser, just to be sure. I recommend QtWeb - with it I was finally able to access my indiegala profile, because with everything else something always prevented me...

Oh and you could also try some liveCD/DVD Linux distro either thru the disc or thru a virtual machine.

If all of this fails its either a hardware problem (if you're using a very old pc that can't handle these scripts) or an ISP problem like your internet service provider is blocking something.

I tried QtWeb and get the same result - it can't even connect to the GOG chat servers.
I never tried Linux and i'm too old to bother with trying it so that's not an option for me.
I'm using a Fujitsu-Siemens Esprimo 5916 from 2007 or 2008, could be that it's a hardware problem.

But i guess that GOG recently changed something with the chat and it's just another example of sloppy programming from GOG's "Top Men". :D

After all everything else works just fine like always on this machine.

Impaler26: ...
Well, since you already tried https://www.gog.com/user/refresh and logging out and logging in and even deleting cookies, then the only thing left is to contact support and wait the problem to fix itself - as I did when GOG constantly logged me out - contacted support, they said everything is ok on their end, I waited and after 2 weeks the problem went out by itself :)

Yep, i'll just sit it out. But thanks for all the tips!
last and final bump for now - then i'll bring the topic to support tmw.
So if you have won any new insights please share them asap.
Also would be thankful if some random stranger could try to chat with me again to verify that the problem still persists.

I'm almost certain it has something to do with special characters in changed usernames, and the corresponding db choking on them.

I have user Empress_Owl (former username: LaPtiteBete) in my contacts list. She stills shows as LaPtiteBete in that list, and clicking on "Start Conversation" when hovering over her avatar in the forum gives me a 404 Error page.

Doing the same for GR00T opens the chat page correctly, even though he's also listed with his old username in my contacts list.
kk support ticket filed and will keep you posted
small update: Problem is forwarded to devs and they are "working on it"
Just an update/bump - seems like they are still working on it
Just another update - seems like the problem is still not resolved and they are (hopefully) still working on it.
Also found out another thing these days that it seems that my database entry is completely buggered (not only chat and wishlist related but also in general) as forum search for posts of mine didn't yield any results (meaning a general search and not the direct links from "topics i've participated in")
still not resolved, ticket going since October the 6th - so seems like the problem is quite complex for them. If i don't hear anything by Friday i gonna update the ticket.

Look in the (too hard) bin for ticket.
I too suffer from this....
