Charge up for adventure!

Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure, the modern installment of the classic series, in which the PC gaming's iconic private investigator returns with his fedora, trenchcoat, glorious Full-Motion Video camp, and--who could expect that--amnesia, is now available 10% off for pre-orders on GOG.com. That's $17.99 <s>until April 22</s> until May 7, when the game is expected to arrive. Pre-ordering on GOG.com yields you a special bonus in the form of the game's full soundtrack and one classic Tex Murphy game of your choice!

In Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure the classic adventure hero wakes up--disoriented and head pounding--on the fire escape outside his office atop the Ritz Hotel. Another typical morning for the last of the old-school detectives. Except it isn’t. What starts out as the worst hangover in history becomes a baffling nightmare: something--or someone--has erased Tex’s memory of the past seven years. Motivated by lost love, revenge, and the world’s strongest coffee blend, Tex must retrace his own steps into a maze of unsolved murders, hidden agendas, and lost technologies of Nikola Tesla. Only by solving the mysteries of his past can Tex hope to regain his memory in time to restore what’s been lost and stop a terrifying future.

If you missed Tex, make sure to pre-order Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure on GOG.com, for only $17.99. You'll get instant access to the game's soundtrack (both MP3 and FLAC format), and a special gift-code allowing you to redeem one classic Tex Murphy game of your choice will be sent to you via e-mail by the end of the week. This special pre-order offer lasts <s>until April 22</s> until May 7, when the game is (currently) scheduled for launch.

EDIT:
As per Big Finish Games' statement, the release of Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure is postponed to allow the developer some more fine-polishing of the anticipated game. The current expected release date is May 7, 2014. We're sorry if this delay causes you any inconvenience!
During last night's live video chat at Twitch, the devs said they were still compiling the game at the time. Maybe that was the reason for all the delay.

A reviewer (who got the game early) posted a message on Big Finish Games' forum about some kind of a bug just 3 days ago. That seemed to have got the devs' attention. Maybe that was the cause of the last-minute compile.

So, let me get this straight.

I did recieved a Steam activation code (and yes, there was no choice) this morning since I backed this project. I haven't redeemed it yet, but as soon as the GOG version is up, those who haven't redeemed their Steam copy will recieve a GOG code (most likely from Big Finish).

Did I got it right? I hope I did.

tarasis: I'm grateful for the attempt. :) I am surprised they are behind on sending out GOG codes.

JudasIscariot: Time zones are evil and must be punished :P
Lets start a petition against timezones. They delay game releases. But it's also for our health because they cause jetlags. Also some people will profit from their work. They'll get extra pay for nightwork although the sun is shining.
I can only see benefits. xD

Steam says 13.6 gigs DL, but apparently the install size should be over 16 gigs.
Any update to when this is releasing on gog? It seems to be out already on steam.
Hurry the hell up, GOG!

Umm, "good news" everyone!

A Big Finish Games admin posted this in their forum 11 minutes ago.

Delivery of the download keys is complete at this time.

These are STEAM keys
The download is DRM FREE (this is an option to us—it’s literally a checkbox)
You can download the game, pull it to your desktop and never look at Steam again if that is your choice.

There is no plan I am aware of to send an additional set of GOG keys.

IF you haven’t received you key, don’t panic.
It could be a delay in the servers, but more likely its:
A) The Code went to the email you backed the project with, not the one you expected to be used
B) Caught in your spam filter. There is content (strange characters and a link) in the email that can trigger some filters. Please check.

So, does that mean they'll hoard their 7000 gog keys? Time to bring out the pitchforks?

Just confirm, I e-mailed Big Finish Games and got this reply:

"I understand.
We are delivering the Backer Codes through Steam.
But the delivery is DRM Free, and does not require Steam to be running or even installed to play.
I'm sorry, but there is no plan I am aware of to issue GOG codes.

handsfree: What thread is that? I don't see it...
It's in the backers only section. Don't know if you have access to that.

I emailed them to see if it's possible to change a steam code to a gog code.

I really hope it will be possible.

It was supposed to be a DRM free game.

It will be DRM-free, even on Steam - read the post that handsfree quoted :-)

I'm a backer, but would not have backed if I knew I had to register on Steam. And never going to do that anyway.
But I've no idea how to get to the backers only section, never been there.
