Charge up for adventure!

Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure, the modern installment of the classic series, in which the PC gaming's iconic private investigator returns with his fedora, trenchcoat, glorious Full-Motion Video camp, and--who could expect that--amnesia, is now available 10% off for pre-orders on GOG.com. That's $17.99 <s>until April 22</s> until May 7, when the game is expected to arrive. Pre-ordering on GOG.com yields you a special bonus in the form of the game's full soundtrack and one classic Tex Murphy game of your choice!

In Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure the classic adventure hero wakes up--disoriented and head pounding--on the fire escape outside his office atop the Ritz Hotel. Another typical morning for the last of the old-school detectives. Except it isn’t. What starts out as the worst hangover in history becomes a baffling nightmare: something--or someone--has erased Tex’s memory of the past seven years. Motivated by lost love, revenge, and the world’s strongest coffee blend, Tex must retrace his own steps into a maze of unsolved murders, hidden agendas, and lost technologies of Nikola Tesla. Only by solving the mysteries of his past can Tex hope to regain his memory in time to restore what’s been lost and stop a terrifying future.

If you missed Tex, make sure to pre-order Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure on GOG.com, for only $17.99. You'll get instant access to the game's soundtrack (both MP3 and FLAC format), and a special gift-code allowing you to redeem one classic Tex Murphy game of your choice will be sent to you via e-mail by the end of the week. This special pre-order offer lasts <s>until April 22</s> until May 7, when the game is (currently) scheduled for launch.

EDIT:
As per Big Finish Games' statement, the release of Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure is postponed to allow the developer some more fine-polishing of the anticipated game. The current expected release date is May 7, 2014. We're sorry if this delay causes you any inconvenience!

Novotnus: I'm only halfway through Under a Killing Moon and the time is nigh...
Run, Novotnus, run!

(Forrest Gump reference) ;)

Did you have a chance to try it out? :)

I'm afraid not, trying to beat some already started titles. ;)

Besides, I use an iron rules' approach for adventure games (no walkthroughs nor in-game hints unless I've already tried everything during two weeks and I've started to consider abandoning the adventure), that makes of me a slow player regarding this genre. ;)

Well the demo was alright, not so spectaculair as i hoped, but it's an okay game.
Controls take a bit getting used to.

I broke some of those rules playing Martian Memorandum... in Under a Killing Moon, I'm on my own. So far so good, no dead ends, no illogical deaths without warning, pretty logical puzzles.

Hey, don't! You're awakening my hunger for adventure games again and I can't allow myself to install it, or I'll abandon all those others I'm trying to beat! :D
I don't mind the dated graphics all - they don't really detract from the game and heck, it feels a little more retro that way ;)

What I don't like, however, is the very narrow FOV - it makes me dizzy to move around. I wish they would increase it to 90 at least - it feels like 65 at the moment.

Other than that, the interface is a little odd (then again the old interface was not much better although i loved the dashboard style) and the music isn't very "Tex Murphy" but works.

You can change the FOV in the options.

Indeed you can. Seems to be gabriel knight 3 with a better motor.
Oh well. Just finished Mean Streets, which I loved, so I got a few more hours left until I can try Tesla (I'm quite hung up on doing things in the proper chronological sequence). Only started on Martian Memorandum, and frankly I liked Mean Streets better so far despite having to fill up three notepad pages of names and NC coordinates, but perhaps that will change after a while. Althoiugh having played through Under a Killing Moon many years ago I have to replay that one as well. Lovely games indeed :) Cheers for continued development of FMV games!
Small heads up - the game is pushed back until May 7 to give the developers more time to polish and prep the game.

A blessing in disguise - maybe I'll have enough time to play the original series before Tesla Effect comes out :)
Its a good thing (to me) that this game is coming out on the 7th of May just because so many games are coming out then. Plus I get paid on the 1st so I can't buy it until then

GOG keep the pre-order discount open until then :)
Yup, might as well make it official. This also affects our Tex Murphy video contest - you'll get an extra week to work on your entries!
