lostwolfe: re: the lack of linux:

if you'd been supporting the operating system in the past, then it's clear to me - at least - that you saw some value in having those customers. you're effectively losing customers by just not adding this in if you managed to add it into your last game.

idbeholdME: They are also saving a ton of money by not having to pay people to port it to Linux, which probably far outweighs the small % of people who won't buy because of that. You can be sure they've done their analyses on the subject and if it was worth it, they'd do it. A simple business decision IMO. They tried it in the past, expenditure > returns, no bueno.
it is - at this late date probably /far/ easier than it's ever been to make a linux port of your game - and with the imminent arrival of the steam deck - almost ludicrously silly to leave money on the table like this.

it's not like the numbers for linux are surprising. that's information that's out there. so this just comes across - to me, anyway - as lazy.

OUCH.

I loved Kingmaker and the content was plentiful. I was also eagerly expecting this game... but isn't 100€ for the complete edition a bit too much?

It is pricey, no doubt about that, but I am thinking about buying it.nonetheless.

Kingmaker was undoubtedly worth that much, but in my current condition I really can't afford to spend 100€ for any single game, no matter the quality (and quantity) of the content. :(

I suppose many others are in my same situation.

It is. Considering the season pass including 3 additional DLC the price seems rather okay.

I will opt for the Commander edition and wait for the release of the first and second DLC but pass on the third. I don't like the idea of introducing a rogue-like mode with partial integration into the main campaign. If I wanted to play a rogue-like I would play one. :)

Not a fan of FOMO tactics with these preorder items. The first game was released in a, let's say imperfect, state which would give me pause about getting the second one right away. How about doing something more customer-friendly this time?

I wouldn´t worry about the third DLC, it seems very similar to Beneath The Stolen Lands DLC for the Kingmaker - the rogue-like mode will most probably be separate from the base game and dungeon in the game itself will definitely be finite.

Yikes exclusive pre-order content for 100€, immediately offputting, sorry.

49.99€, you get the pre-order stuff with every version.

I still don't like this kind of practise, locking items behind pre-order. :/

I just put another 10 hours into the previous game and this time I'm actually having fun with it, but those items might keep me from purchasing 'Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous '.

Oh yeah, my bad. But it seems getting everything for 49.99€ isn't quite correct either, because unless im mistaken again, the commander edition (~70€) has extra stuff.

That's another shitty thing about pre-orders, especially tiered ones, it's always a bit confusing which version contains what. Although this stuff is still pretty tame compared to the shit Ubisoft's been pulling (one of the reasons why I'll never buy a modern Assassin's Creed even though at their core they appear to be good games...).

Glad to hear you're having fun with the previous game though. I bet this is a decent game also, but just for me personally I think I'll pass, because I have so much stuff to play anyway and I really don't want to support these practices. I might get it when it's at 90% sale, at that price I might be able to overlook cut content :D

TomNuke: Why the whining about pre-order bonuses? It's a couple items, one pet, and a few skins for animal companions... Not a big deal, but let's act like it's the end of the world and all.

I mean, you could just pre-order the game if you really want it, right? God forbid the devs want people to show up and buy on release, and they're providing a little bonus for the people who do show up. Good for them, and I like it when devs do that.

Not like pre-ordering is a risk either. You can easily pre-order, and if the game turns out to be bad (this game won't) you can get a refund. So what's the problem here?

Anyways, Wrath of the Righteous was an easy pre-order for me. I had a great time with Kingmaker, and everything I've heard and seen say that this new game is just much better in all areas. I do hope that the runtime on this one is shorter though, since I did feel Kingmaker was just way too long.

But yea, really looking forward to diving into this on September 2nd.

And to the Devs -

I really like the exclusive pre-order content. I think it's nice little bonus for the people who show up and support the game on day one. Stuff like that does encourage me to pre-order (which I just did with the Mythic Edition).

Edit: Oh, and I really dig that "Box art" for the game. Much better than Kingmaker :)
Instabuy Mythic Edition also.

Maybe they'll feel satisfied when the dev actually sells extra skin content like how they did with Legend of Heroes series - complete your game with buying swimsuit for USD10.

I bought a game at full price with bugs and zero reviews expecting a hit or miss, at least a few animal skin would compensate that.

nightcraw1er.488: That’s all well and good, however what about if you don’t see the pre-order until after it has ended? Then you are missing some content.
For once I (partially) agree with Tom....it's mainly just "cosmetic junk".

You know what one of the more recent seemingly unnoticed nefarious schemes of game companies has been?
Getting people to be interested in/clamoring for the equivalent of Horse Armor DLC.

avatar
nightcraw1er.488: As with other thing it is a yes or no not a how much question. Is the full version missing content after a certain time, yes it is. Just the same with cyberpunk, does it have content online gated, yes it does. Doesn’t matter if it’s one pixel or half the game.
It's also a question of how much for a number of people. I could understand complaining about substantial content, like say levels/storyline DLC, but cosmetic skins?

If it was like you suggest I wouldn't mind at all. :) What worries me is the way it is described on the store page: with partial integration into the main campaign This suggests that it is going to become part of the main game in some way.

As long as this isn't clear it is the safest option to opt for the Commander edition and upcoming DLC separately without risk of missing out on anything and not necessarily wasting money in advance on something I might not like.

The with partial integration into the main campaign is exactly what prompted me to similarity with BtSL Kingmaker DLC: - it adds to the game itself finite, though huge mega dungeon (16 floors + final floor) and the same dungeon with the same name, but infinite, is accessible as a separate module, which is there purely if you wanna fight ad nauseam - which I don´t.

These two are unconnected/discontinuous for a balance reason: You would never be able to balance properly loot+enemies in singleplayer content, if player would be able to continue indefinitely, whereas in a separate module you can set the changes in a meaningful way, and they would not break the rest of the game.

The whole megadungeon idea is a callback to Durlag´s Tower in BGI or Watcher Keep in BGII, and similar thing was present also in Pillars of Eternity as a Kickstarter reward (13 floors, I think).

But I understand your reluctance and, of course, you can wait till the DLC will be released and decide for yourself whether you want it.
