mystikmind2000: Probably in other countries VETS are still reasonable?
We took our dog to the vets to get a lump removed from his leg. They told us they found a lump on his spleen and he could die at any moment and we should send him to a specialist. The specialist did some more tests and told us he is actually fine. It cost us over £1500 for nothing because he still never got the original lump removed!
At this point the best thing is to adopt. They made an Industry out of pets so just remember that your companions lifespan is not in their interest.
Also I would suggest making food for them yourself just do a little research beforehand.

Oh and I forgot: FCK Greed!

Your in the UK?... mostly all the rippof scams follow pretty closely between there and Australia. Although your housing is much cheaper in the UK,... (sarcasm alert)... it must be because you have much more space and a smaller population than Australia!.... i mean what else could it be? Australian government buried its head in the sand on regional development over the last 100 years forcing everyone to cram into a few coastal cities??

Yes I am, still can't decide if it was a scam or if the vet genuinely thought there was a problem. But then even if she did, that's a lot of money for us to loose on someone else's mistake!

Guess I'd better stay on topic too and post a pic of our dog (looking quite scary):
