sharonbn: Since the majority of requests for gifts come from known scammers or suspected scammers, I decided to cease gifting activities for a while.

On one hand, I appriciate and support the effort of legitimate members in exposing scammers. I understand this is done to maintain the original idea of giveaways and to for the sake of maintaining this community as friendly social place. I do not want to undermine the effort by encouraging scammers.

However, without any easy manner to identify scammers, it has become too time consuming for me to try to do the filtering and also I do not feel comfortable judging other people motives and behavior.

All I wanted was to spread a little hapiness and get rid of some unused steam keys. The last thing I wanted was to get mixed up in an ugly war. I have enough of this in the real life.
Perhaps the gifting will recommence sometime in the future.
If you have spare Steam keys you want to give away with as little effort as possible, and without a lot of potential controversy, one way to do it is to join one or more of the structured Steam giveaway sites such as:

Steamgifts - http://www.steamgifts.com
Steam Companion - https://steamcompanion.com

Both sites are free and have been around for several years now. You can configure the parameters of your giveaway to your wishes and it is rather painless. If you want to give away a game quickly you can make it fully public and set it to end in an hour or so (or whatever the shortest time period is that's long enough for someone to enter). You can provide the Steam key or link when you submit the giveaway if desired, or hold onto it until the winner is decided and furnish it to them afterward. I believe both sites have mechanisms for creating blacklists and whitelists if desired as well. Takes about the same time to create a quick giveaway on one of those sites as it does to post a message in a forum, it's pretty quick. Plus it is outside of the GOGosphere but open to anyone who has an account there including GOG'ers. There are other threads here where you can announce off-site giveaways also, or you could post a new post if desired also.

Hope this helps.

Internet is real life, masked real life with good and bad people unfortunately. I also would not want to give gift someone that will then benefited on expense of the third person. So i understand your decision and i don't have hard feelings.
Thanks anyway for your good intentions. Maybe, if you have the will and time you can try some zeogold or skeletonbow suggestions. ;)
