Most of GOG.com users already know that Planescape: Torment is one of the best games ever created. What's even cooler about it, fans of the game made it even better with lots of mods and enhancements, but it's pretty difficult to figure out what modifications and in which order they should be installed. Thanks to Johnny Walker aka ThunderPeel2001, who originally posted this article a detailed description of the fastest and easiest way to get the best of Planescape: Torment.

kalirion: "You SHOULD install:
- Maximized HP Per Level for TNO and Party
- Maximized Friends Spell"

Why "SHOULD" I install these? Seems like a cheat to me.
The first one addresses a major D&D issue going as far back as D&D. Getting a major part of your characters decided by a few random dice rolls is a bad thing. Anyone who has saved and reloaded before leveling up in a D&D game can attest to this. It will make the game easier, it will also make it much less random. I'm going to use it on my first play through in years. If you want to use this is a personal choice but I think the benefits outweigh the downside.

The second one seems much less relevant to me and I wouldn't recommend it.
Excellant, just the sort of mod that will make me play it again.

Any chance for similar mods for Baldurs Gates & Icewind Dales?/

I think the widescreen mod should work for all Infinity Engine games. Don't quote me on that though.

Why just HP then? Why not maximize all dice rolls then? Damage, attack, saving throws, etc....
cool. sad, that some stuff like this can't be actually integrated in GoG releases, so it's great that you made this list. would be cool if it was linked from the game page, if it's not implemented:)
Wow I just bought this game a few days ago. It's like they know!
Immensely helpful.

2Karl: I tried out the widescreen mod, but I actually prefer to play the game in the standard 640x480 resoluion. I guess I just like big sprites.
Have you played Master of Magic?
Speaking of spelling and grammatical fixes...

"that the designer's didn't have time to finish"

Oopsie!

Me too. In fact, I prefer to play the games as they were released..in their good old pristine state.with nobody dinking around with the code ;)..

I don't mind playing the game in it's original form, not even a bit. They've a certain charm. But if there is a way to improving the graphics/resolution, without changing the game too much, I have no objections.
I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but I've checked the Spellhold forums and couldn't find any answers.

I downloaded the fix pack and moved it over to the PST folder but once it's there, what do i do with it?

There should be a file called something like PSTFix.exe, run that and it'll pop up a dos box to let you pick options to install. Same deal with the UI mod and the... other one that I can't immediately remember the name of and will be too lazy to edit this post to correct.

TWEAKS! Thats it, remembered before hitting post.

At least these mods only change the aesthetics rather than the game itself, those are the only kind of mods I use
