Most of GOG.com users already know that Planescape: Torment is one of the best games ever created. What's even cooler about it, fans of the game made it even better with lots of mods and enhancements, but it's pretty difficult to figure out what modifications and in which order they should be installed. Thanks to Johnny Walker aka ThunderPeel2001, who originally posted this article a detailed description of the fastest and easiest way to get the best of Planescape: Torment.

I tried this, but the Ultimate Fixpack and the Tweaks Pack just pop a blackscreen and vanish right away :(

Any clues on what could be the problem ?
too bad, I've finished Planescape on Saturday night ;)

but I guess no harm done as I didn't encounter any bugs (the game just exited about 3 times) and those super-high resolutions are terrible, your hero looks like an ant!
Are these mods Windows specific? Because I'd quite like to get these mods working using GemRB, but perhaps they've already been built in, or are available in a different form.
As a guy who doesn't really do a lot of mod installs, I found this guide extremely helpful. Thanks to all involved with its creation.
How about making it so the game doesn't crash 50% of the time when I enter a building!

Thanks!

Aliasalpha: Oh and the best res I've seen it run at is 1920x1080, anyone able to beat that?
Tried to get 1920x1200 on my HD laptop with Vista, failed. For some reason spellcasting crashed the game, and given that Ghostdog's UI required a fresh start, I got sick of doing the wizard quest again and again and resigned to playing the game at 1280x1024.
WOW THANK YOU GOG! THIS WAS JUST WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR!

try to copy/ paste for 2 times the files of the mods, and then run the .exe ^^
Very helpful. I'd like to see documents more like this. Thanks!
I love the widescreen mod, but the last couple of times I've tried to play with it installed, I'll frequently get stuck by crashes in interior areas (Vista-64 and W7-64). I tried running without it and haven't had any of the issues.

Given the debug errors that popup, I think the mod can sometimes cause characters (npc or players, not sure which), to have locations that the game doesn't like.
"You SHOULD install:
- Maximized HP Per Level for TNO and Party
- Maximized Friends Spell"

Why "SHOULD" I install these? Seems like a cheat to me.
Thanks everyone who put effort in making this guide! It's very usefull!
Next time I play PS: T, I'll install some mods.

Aliasalpha: It'd probably help you now too, it expands the screen to many new resolutions, not just widescreen ones
Yes, you're right, but before I start playing Planescape Torment I want to complete Baldur's Gate and, if possible, NWN Diamond :) Which will take a lot of time. After buying the laptop I'll do a slight upgrade to my PC and turn it into a Kubuntu driven media center. So, no gaming on the PC, laptop only.

I tried out the widescreen mod, but I actually prefer to play the game in the standard 640x480 resoluion. I guess I just like big sprites.
