[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

Purrfect! After installation, only Limbo is DRM-free!
The game can run without the client active and no workaround needed.
Launch the exe file directly without resource hogging DRMs!

A horror indie game that you can turn off your lights and play tonight, is DRM-free, what is there not to like? Meowtastic!

Seriousplayer: To add a bit of clarity you got to scroll down nearly to end of the page to add it to your library

also upon checking my license activation it's say's it's HITMAN World of Assassination Episode: Sapienza yet 76 GB for one episode is a bit much steam's gotta be a big buggy at the moment
Weirdly enough, it seems to be correct - the game downloads all the assets no matter what is/isn't unlocked. Talk about waste of space.

That is how steam system works. For online multiplayer, players may equip DLC only items and having all players download all assets will allow them to still see the item, albeit not owning the DLC.

Instead of separate parameters for each game depot, Steam makes it a default protocol for gamers to download everything for every game, regardless of single or multiplayer games.

I am sure you are right about the Steam protocols, but what is marked as part of the assets for any specific edition is for the publisher to decide just like whether various editions can communicate in case the game does include multiplayer. Most demos don't include the whole thing (though many trial versions do).
This one, from my point of view, is a time restricted release of a demo/trial comprising of a single module (11GB in size) - listed as its own edition, while a cleaner approach of making a specific DLC free for demo users in not uncommon and I never had a bloated download in those cases. By the way, the original demo also is a full size download here and seems to have different content unlocked from this "edition".

johannesjidl: snip
That is different because demos are separate packages on steam and do not count as the same game.
It is a separate entity. So you will never download all assets when downloading a demo version of any game.
However, HITMAN Episode 1 is not a demo or a trial but is part of the actual game package.
So you will download the whole game, but access is only granted when you pay for the license to access other episodes (treated as DLCs).

Thus, if you download HITMAN the demo version (if it is still listed), you will not see 76 GB in size.

The scheme is very much like Payday 2 or even Sims 4, not that it's anything to do with Steam (which BTW, WoA is also on Xbox and EGS). That is how I summarize it.

The "base game" itself is essentially F2P hidden in the free "demo". You just get the starter pack content, which just includes one training map and some limited content. If you claimed the Sapienza DLC instead, it already includes that stuff and you've automatically claimed the base game. Again, the rest of the content is locked behind DLCs. If you also have been using Twitch to get drops for the game, those are added to your game as well so you can add whatever equipment/cosmetics you got from that as a bonus.

Anyway, the obligatory annual event: Tell Me Why

Looks like a stinker...
Doesn't seem to actually be downloadable though. And considering the message that the freebie expired in 2019, may be a mistake that it showed up?

Not ideal but you can "add to collection > install" it through the IG launcher. Don't even know why you have to do the add to collection step for the games even if they're already in your library, scuffed launcher.

Not a mistake. IG is just utterly broken in a lot of areas while it apparently is still in its era of transformation, whatever that may be. it's a WIP, so there are a lot of rough edges, artifacts left that are dead. Not the giveaway itself. This is still valid and claimable as it is prominently displayed on both the Freebies and Showcase pages. I myself apparently missed the last time it was on giveaway by that date and could claim it this time, as it is prominently dislayed on the Freebies and Showcase pages.

The instruction in the reply above is how you'd download it. The client also suffers from some of the same issues as its tied to the site, but it is mainly now the only thing that is somewhat functional when it comes to downloading things. I don't know what the "collection" button does as nothing appears from that. Also, if you had done so but didn't proceed with the installation, it somehow reverts back to the colleciton button. Don't have to worry about that, but you have to resume and complete both steps to install it anyway.

Checked my previously claimed freebies and they all seem to be downloadable in browser.
Ah well, didn't really care anyway, was just a little bit curious. And definitely won't use any clients.

Not all of them. There are freebies in my account where the downloads have disappeared or are empty zip files only.
