[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

JakobFel: Rogue Company is free on Epic
Always has been.
So, I suppose, STO (Star Trek Online) has also always been free?

Now FREE for a limited time

 ▪ ABZU: Link

 ▪ Rising Storm 2 Vietnam: Link

I have heard good things about ABZU. It is definitely not another subnautica clone. If you are up for an adventure, it is worth checking out.

Grab them here until next week.

Other active freebies:
 ▪ Star Trek Online

Coming Next Week - Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs (Classic!) and Kingdom New Lands

STO has always been a f2p game. It was only just added to Epic like all the other games. Rogue Company has been around for a while and has now been on Open Beta since last week or so which is why you're just seeing it as a freebie and late to the party.

The rep system causes a little bit of headache.

It's been given away by Epic before. It's a walking simulator with fishes. A swimming simulator where you can do fish-watching or just progress in the journey. And there's a few pull this lever puzzles. It's slow and should be a relaxing experience if it doesn't get on your nerves. It's short so I didn't mind playing it for free.

ABZU is really nice and relaxing for the most part. There are some... darker... parts towards the end. It's comparable to Flower in some ways and looks really beautiful.

If you wonder where the games ends up, it's listed as a DLC for SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics, that is automatically added to your collection. So you won't find it as Sonic, you gotta look for SEGA instead.

Other information that's good to know, the games in this collection (including Sonic the Hedgehog 2) use the Steam Workshop, and people share modded versions of the ROM (because the product you are getting is the ROM plus 2 different emulators). There are a lot of Sonic 2 mods, so you're getting more than just the base game if you like modded Genesis games.

YMMV with the Workshop as it's seen some abuse. You'll also have to fork over copies from the Workshop if you want to play them on the simple launcher. The simple launcher is a fallback that is DRM-free and runs on Windows XP and up, but you can technically run any ROM on either, or use the emulator of your choice.
