I know we know about how troubled the search function is, but here's an example that kind of blows my mind.

Recently, the "Games Finished in 2014" thread dropped off the front page, and I wanted to post to it. So I used the forum search for "Games Finished in 2014," and it returned six pages of results.

The "Games Finished in 2014" thread was not one of the results. FYI. *Really* needs to be fixed.

I can't account for the discrepancy, but I tried it multiple times on the day I posted. I'm at my Day Job machine right now and not my home machine, and here too it is the first result right now - but it wasn't listed at all the other day. I took great pains to go over the list repeatedly when I decided to post. I'll try it at home later on.

Edit: Aaaand this morning it works on my home machine. However, it did not when I posted. Gremlins on my end, or gremlins on GOGs?

Edit Edit: I also note that this morning the search returns 7 pages of results, instead of 6, so there is definitely a difference and not a mis-reading of the results.

Heck, it would be nice if the search could return a user's posts. Now the only way any show up is if they were replied to.

Okay, can we have an off topic section, now? Please? Just do that and focus on rewriting the forum software/getting mods/etc later.

This is embarrassing behaviour on what should be a video game forum. Remember that this community is actually doing a bit in representing you as a business.

Please just get an off topic section done asap.

Or maybe even "Off Topic", "About GOG" and "About Games"
When one user is able to block another, remove that block, send a message and block again and I am unable to block them because...they have blocked me. And then they repeat the behaviour again. This shows a flaw in the system and opens the door for continued harassment. This is my first experience with blocking on these forums. I have never blocked anyone and this is the first time I have been blocked. It doesn't seem right that whoever "gets in first" has the power to prevent the other user from preventing further contact.

That is exceedingly abusive! I'm so happy I blocked lugum before he could block me :/

Hence I messaged JudasIscariot to please block him from doing so in future.
I'll throw in another vote for separating "General Discussion" into sub-forums, here's my suggestion:

1.) Game Discussion
2.) Off Topic
3.) Giveaways

This is a simple division and will greatly help to keep things more organized, more efficient and will arguably make most people more happy.
It could be worse I suppose. I don't get why there's a rep function, and oftentimes the search for certain game forums would bug out on me. I rarely ever touch the general discussion, but I found it a little cluttered with items that should be in their own separate forums like giveaways.

But the information contained within the game forums is pure gold, and I've seldom have found a better resource for some items. Whatever you do to the forums, let the older posts survive in some way. Especially what's stickied.

Yes - http://www.gog.com/support/website_help/downloads_and_games
4. Can I make backups of games downloaded from GOG.com?
Yes you can, and as a matter of fact we strongly recommend you do so – backing up your stuff is a very good habit, you know? Because our games are DRM-free, as soon as you download the setup file, you can back it up on a DVD or your external hard drive without hassle. Plus, as our installers are wrapped in nice .exe files, you can save them all in one folder and create a nice local backup of your games library! And if you forgot to backup your purchased games, fear not. You can always redownload them from our website for free – see below for more info. Sure, downloading will take a little bit longer than launching an installer from your backup disc, but that's no big deal.
Never mind.

Yes you can and while you are at it you can also download the general forum and stick that on there too for future entertainment if the general forum is your kind of thing.
