I have been trying to play for 6 weeks at least Every thing on low and 10 plus fixes on you tube. Unplayable on keybord and mouse. Still laggy with xbox controller.

Specs : i5 2400 Cpu 3.10 Ghz Ram 16Gb

Asus EAH6450 1GB DDR3 video card

Mouse : Logitech Promethus Spectrum 502

Did Fixes galore, is this a noncompatable system?

That is a VERY non-compatible system. You don't have enough power in your graphics in three ways:

- Your graphics card doesn't understand the concepts needed to present much of the data
- Your graphics card can't hold enough of the data at once to display it
- You graphics card isn't fast enough to retrieve or compute all of the data needed

You can check out the store page and look at the minimum specs. You can google those specs vs your specs to see if what you have is up to par.

If you have a console, that would be the most cost-effective way to play right now. Otherwise, you'll at a minimum need a much more powerful graphics card. Prices should go down roughly 50% next year on graphics cards (there's a world-wide memory shortage going on right now which has raised the prices of the cards by a lot).

You may also need to upgrade other aspects of your system in order to run it, too.

Edit: I just looked some things up. Your processor is technically too slow to meet minimum requirements. In my experience, you can usually still play below minimum specs on processors, but you won't have an always-fluid game.

Your graphics card isn't even powerful enough to run Witcher 2 properly. So that's definitely your bottleneck right now.

Is my system that bad for Witcher 3?

Yes, your video card is far below the minimum recommended by the developers.
See comparison of your card and minimum recommended card.

Your graphics card isn't bad, it's just bad at games. It's intended to let you use more than one monitor for working on programs like Excel, Word, and the Interwebs.

If you want to game with the really good graphics, then you'll need to pay for it.

This is very comparable to the minimum spec card but much cheaper (it also uses much less power and you won't have to upgrade your power supply): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125919&cm_re=gtx_1050-_-14-125-919-_-Product

It's $160. Again, wait for next year and you'll likely be looking at $100-$120ish I'd imagine (that's what they were before the RAM crash)

Yup. Might wanna save up for a new system. Yours is too ancient for modern games.
Dude, seriously. Your graphics card is seven years old (!) and even then it was a low end product never intended for 3D gaming but for office use and displaying videos in an HTPC. It's woefully underequipped for anything gaming related.
The CPU should be ok, even if old, however you really should look into a new GPU. Prefereably at least an gtx 1070.
That processor is like 75% faster than mine lol. The graphics card is indeed woefully underpowered and I started laughing (sorry about that) when I looked at a comparision with my GPU. Your system is good enough that replacing the graphics card should give you decent performance in most games.

How do you figure prices will go down 50%? The memory shortage is only part of the equation. The f***ing coin miners are driving demand for video cards through the roof as well. Unless something curbs the demand by coin miners, I don't see prices adjusting to that degree any time soon.

I think most of your specs are OK, but as others have pointed out, the graphics processor isn't good enough. Apparently some people manage to play the game on a GPU as low-end as a GTX 750 ti, so you don't need an expensive high-end card, unless you expect to run it smoothly at max settings. If you just want to play it decently, without blowing a lot of money, I'd recommend something like a GTX 1050. Should be able to do 30+ FPS @ 1080p and High settings.

For nVidia, they have many great budget cards that would run Witcher 3 that were $150ish (for the gtx 1050) at release, $250 recently. That's a 66% increase due to lack of supply of memory and not mining (1050 is very inefficient at mining and generally isn't used).

I think we'll see some changes coming soonish. Estimates look like late this year to early next year for the memory shortage to ease. And then we'll have a fun price war between the major players.

I suppose time will tell, though.

This.^^

If you want to play and enjoy Witcher 3 it's either new graphics card or new pc.

Well, I remain skeptical, but I hope you're right. :)

The good news is that bitcoin value seems to have plummeted again, if I read right. So mining is becoming less and less lucrative, not even covering the electricity bills.

Maybe soon we will be seeing lots and lots of second hand high-end NVidia GPUs sold on ebay and such, with notes like "in mint condition, never used for gaming! (only some bitcoin mining...)".

I'd say the mining and shortage of high-end GPUs still had an impact on lower end hardware, as PC gamers who would have otherwise bought a high-end GPU had to make do with low and mid-range hardware. ( At least if they didn't want to pay the absurd prices of the few remaining high-end GPUs. )

Either way, I hope you're right about upcoming price drops and the recovery of the GPU market.
