DaCostaBR: Is your credit card not enabled for international purchases? May I ask which bank is it from?
avatar
thiagodalbo: No bank would ever give me a credit card. I am just a student, I can't make enough money for that.
Hardly. I got an Ourocard Universitário from Banco do Brasil even before I got any scholarship as an income. If you have enough disposable income to buy games, you probably can deposit that into a checkings account and have a credit card. Have you actually asked them for one?

P.S.: You can't ever talk about regional pricing on the internet, the response is always "I pay more than you, so you can go fuck yourself", or "I pay less than you, so you can go fuck yourself".

I am SO bookmarking this quote. XD +1

EDIT: Fun fact: Of the first 10 results Google gives when you search for "regional pricing", 7 are either from, or have to do with, GOG (including the top 3 results, which are all from this site).

That's one hell of a quote.

Well, now that said that, I feel like a fool. I didn't knew abouth this Ourocard Universitário. I supose will just get one for me, for this purpose only.

In the end, I will just deal with it myself.
Anyway, if GOG accepted brazillian currency, me and my friends wouldn't need to rely on other methods of purchasing digital game property.
I will just leave with a wish they add the real, but I will go after the credit card anyway.

Thanks to everyone.

You might want to vote on the wish for this, for whatever that's worth.

If you don't have a credit card, how would you be able to purchase games here if they were sold in reals?

dtgreene: If you don't have a credit card, how would you be able to purchase games here if they were sold in reals?
There are other ways to pay without a credit card.
"Bank slips" (is that correct english?) are what I usually use. I could pay it anywhere. Could even pay it with an app on my phone. The fact that it's in dollars ask that I pay it with a credit card specificly.

thiagodalbo: I really should not need to explain my life to some offended dude on the internet.
You certainly needn't. And I was not offended, although I know my harsh way of expressing myself can give that impression. If anything I was amused at your naïveté for thinking that the prices you see (in USD) are the same everyone gets worldwide. Granted, your regional pricing in Brazil isn't as extreme as the Russians' and their neighbours', but still.

It's human nature, I guess... We tend to take everything we get for granted, and think we're the ones who have it the worst.

thiagodalbo:
You still would need some sort of online means to pay. So they would need to have an alternate payment option. But you don't necessarily need a Credit Card. Debit cards should also work.
Also we're not judging you, we're glad to welcome you. I came from the dark side to GOG for example, but I haven't pirated any game in the last 2 years.

Prah: When it comes to British Pound, I have no idea. I assume I just have it for the sake of it? :S
This is interesting. Same country but I don't see British Pound on my end. All I could think of was that you logged in with a British VPN or travelled there physically and logged in.

They still don`t have Deutsche Mark (German Mark) here, what a shame!

They have the Euro, which is a pretty good working approximation. *Shots fired* :P

blotunga: It seems it is in BR. Does it matter? Currency conversion fees are normally not that large.
Certainly matters for customers in Japan. Steam has GOG beat for prices.
avatar
muntdefems: One would think the largely beneficial regional pricing would be enough, but that's clearly not the case... :\
Shame GOG doesn't offer regional pricing in all regions. Hence again why Steam is now cheaper for customers in Japan for most indie games.

Recent examples:
Duskers - GOG: 17.99 USD (approx. 1979 JPY*) - Steam: 1782 JPY (approx. 16.19 USD)
Shadwen - GOG: 14.44 USD (approx. 1589 JPY) - Steam: 1428 JPY (approx. 12.98 USD)
The Witness - GOG: 39.99 (appox. 4400 JPY) - Steam: 3980 (approx. 36.18 USD)

* This is 1 JPY off Steam's non-sale RRP of 1980 JPY

CDPR are the exception:
Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: GOG: 24.99 (approx. 2750 JPY) - Steam: 3040 JPY (approx. 27.63 USD)

All prices are the current sales prices and not necessarily the RRPs.But each title has the same percentage discount on both platforms as of this post.

thiagodalbo: I think people are getting a little offended by my request.
GOG is great. I even desire to buy games specific from it. But I can't because the currency is a large barrier to overcome that I need a Credit Card. To get the credit card I need to earn much more money they I do now. I am just a studant, I can't have a credit card. A bank would not give me one if can't make enough money.

I really should not need to explain my life to some offended dude on the internet.

Or GOG add 'real' to it's currency options or I need to improve my financial status.
I couldn't appreciate GOG more. But I can't buy it's games.

Let me put this straight: This is a small request. Not a demand.
Regional prices were never the point.
Don't Brazilian banks issue Visa Depit or Visa Electron (or equivalent) cards? Those work almost anywhere on the net these days.

man... I don't where did I mention the prices.
I was talking about accessibility to actually buy the games.
I am aware of regional pricing. I noticed that happenS on 'anoThEr digitAl property store'.M
I never felt like buying things from GOG because I have this 'other digital property store' that allows me to pay with reals. Paying with dollars always felt intimidating because of the hassle, conversion fees, and everything when I could just go else where.
I created this topic to express a wish to buy from GOG, and that would be doing so a long time a go if my currency where available.

I don't expect that to happen right away. I am not sure it will ever happen.

Or did you actually mean it won't beneficial to GOG because of the regional pricing...?
It's also not beneficial if people don't want to buy anything from it and go somewhere else where there are regional prices *and* converted prices to real.

I am not sure I am grasping what your point is. Care to explain to this naive foreigner?

I just want the price I see converted in reals. I would have been so much easier and welcome.
Prices were never the case. Prices are fair as they are.

(By the way, GOG managers read these topics?)
