yyahoo: It's not even Gearbox's decision when it comes to Borderlands is it? Wouldn't that mean needing to bring Take 2 to GOG?
Indeed it would.

Smannesman: I enjoyed the second one, but I think the GOTY edition has been on sale quite often for less than that.
Yeah, the bl2 goty was like $6.40 for like 20 minutes on the last day of the steam sale, but I think most missed it.

Definitely. But I've got a feeling that Gearbox has some say when it comes to the distribution of its titles. I might be wrong, but it's not unheard of for a dev with some industry clout to retain some say in these matters (id software do, for instance).

Gearbox didn't seem to have a whole lot of clout when it came to Aliens: Colonial Marines. Just sayin'... :)

Nope. Right now I think they'd struggle to get any kind of deal from another publisher if they needed to. But Take Two weren't psychic. They couldn't have predicted that Gearbox would go to shit like that.

tfishell: Nifty but no DRM-free no deal. ;)

Making the best of the situation, maybe Gearbox is just trying to get the last few drops out of the Steam versions before bringing them to GOG.
avatar
Navagon: That's pretty optimistic. Gearbox haven't exactly been making the best decisions lately. And that's by games industry standards.
I'm basing that off the idea that they had a hand in bringing/allowing Tales from the Borderlands here; maybe that was 100% Telltale's decision.

Yeah, I'd imagine that, when it comes to distribution, Take Two / Gearbox just get a cut of the profits and that's it.

Maybe you know a few people to email and tweet?

Unless you could get enough push behind Take Two to make them see DRM does not improve their games, then I guess we will never see their Borderlands games here.
This one I highly recommend people to get.
Borderlands is awesome.
Is the DLC worth the purchase price to a cheap gamer? I got the game on XBOX for $2 at Goodwill a few weeks ago. But if it's one of those games that sucks without DLC (like Alan Wake was), then I may rebuy it here.

What Alan Wake DLC? Do you mean American Nightmare or was there some DLC for the game proper?

I think the extra chapters included in the pc version were dlc on xbox, or whatever.
Got the $1... but won't go further.. I have enough games :) (and Bl2 with all essential DLCs)

As shoveling said, the XBOX version had chapter 5 and 6 as DLC. A new game came with chapter 5, so you only had to buy chapter 6 (at $7). If you bought it used, you ended up paying the new price to get the DLC.

The PC version came with all of the chapters.
I have to say that this deal is perfect for me. I have Borderlands2 with all important DLC so I was only interested in Borderlands1. Sad thing is that there is no claptrap DLC and, as far as I know, It's going to be in the above-average pack :/
