For years I never touched my PC for gaming or anything else. Now, well now you know what I'm like. :P

Because it makes the PC crowd look like a bunch of elitists scumbags.
It may be a minority,but it's a very vocal one that drowns out the good crowd of the market.

Yahtzee only did a sarcastic joke that grew beyond him, but you know we're going through a period nowadays where everyone want to belongs to its own little elitist community to fill that bit of insecurity we all have. Just ignore people thinking that what they buy and consume is what they are and look at the objective quality of PC gaming and I'm sure you know them : cheaper games, customization/modding, retro-gaming, more variety, tons of indies. Just load yourself one of the classics, get away from the internet and just play the game.

I know that the eletist took the joke and ran with it.
I'll play my GOGs from time to time because most of the games I own,made me into a gamer and I love games with the bottom of my heart.
But I always prefer consoles because I was introduced to gaming in a SNES and I've been and avid console and PC gamer ever since.
But I just hate the elitism,it sours the experience for me and for my friends that I want to introduce them to the world of PC gaming with the site.
My friends want to play my GOGs and I don't know if I can share with them a copy of Fallout 1+2.

I guess the question is which need are you trying to satisfy here: Being entertained by a game or feeling like a victim or both.

Sounds like you're letting other people's opinion spoil your gaming experience. Play the games you enjoy on whichever system you prefer: console, PC, or both.

I was about to say much of the same thing, but as it's a bit redundant now, I can only echo the sentiment.

I still don't understand why the elitism bothers you. There are console elitists too. Familiar with the XBone term? Elitists are everywhere, but it's not like you have to interact with them. Don't play online games, or mute everyone else when you do.

Stop worrying, stay off the internet, play PC (or console) games instead and enjoy yourself. Problem solved.

Then again, intially you said that your PC games bore you. Why would you prefer to stick to PC gaming anyway?

I guess it depends on where you hang out on the internet, but that's a separate issue from gaming in general. Yeah, I've seen the elitist 'PC Master Race' crowd go off on console gamers and I've also seen the elitist 'Console Uber Mensch' crowd go off on PC gamers. But I've not seen a lot of it here or in the couple other places I frequent. And that has nothing to do with playing games at all.

Well if all the advantages of PC gaming cannot counter-balance the elitism of a few people for you, its going to be hard.

What I don't understand is why, if you genuinely enjoy gaming, would care about some people on internet at all and why it should affect your gaming?
Are you playing multiplayer games and are they present there to disturb you?

Or are you playing solo and you keep thinking about those "elitist gamers" during normal game and it spoils your game? If yes, why?

Yahtzee did it as a joke and the Reddit sub was set up as a joke... but man, some people latched onto that and just take it WAY too seriously.

I think in general you'll find most of us are actually reasonable people, it's the minority that likes to kick and scream and generally get up in your face so you can't not see them. I, personally, feel like anyone who belittles another for the type of games they play, or where they choose to play it, they're not worth the effort it takes to be annoyed. Just ignore/block them and move on.

I, myself, play games primarily on PC, but I have most consoles spanning back to the Atari 2600... hell, about the only consoles I haven't actually bought in the last 30 years are PS4 and X1, though I'll probably pick one or both up when a game comes out that looks interesting enough and isn't also coming to PC. I also do mobile gaming on my 3DS (and DS, GBA, GBC, GB before that) and phone as well. If I see a game that looks fun, I'll play it, I don't much care what hardware it's on.

But you're going to have to have a thicker skin than you're displaying here, and not just around a "gamer" crowd but in general with any interaction you have on the internet. The world is full of assholes, gamers or otherwise, and you can't keep letting them get to you.
