Vitek: What I don't understand is why, if you genuinely enjoy gaming, would care about some people on internet at all and why it should affect your gaming?
Are you playing multiplayer games and are they present there to disturb you?

Or are you playing solo and you keep thinking about those "elitist gamers" during normal game and it spoils your game? If yes, why?
MMOs and MOBAs.
Maybe they're getting into me and the stress from work doesn't help at all.
I cooled my head, took a shower and had dinner. I'm calmer now. It's just my nerves acting out and I was not thinking straight.

l0rdtr3k: BEcause of the whole elitism(as shown above) that pisses me off.
The who "hurr durr Mustard Race" just gets on my nerves and make me wish to just punch Yahtzee straight in the face for inventing such a thing and ruined the whole thing for me.
I'm disgusted for calling myself a PC gamer when the whole thing is based around elitism and how better we are instead of shutting the fuck up and just play your goddamn games.

darkwolf777: Yahtzee did it as a joke and the Reddit sub was set up as a joke... but man, some people latched onto that and just take it WAY too seriously.

I think in general you'll find most of us are actually reasonable people, it's the minority that likes to kick and scream and generally get up in your face so you can't not see them. I, personally, feel like anyone who belittles another for the type of games they play, or where they choose to play it, they're not worth the effort it takes to be annoyed. Just ignore/block them and move on.

I, myself, play games primarily on PC, but I have most consoles spanning back to the Atari 2600... hell, about the only consoles I haven't actually bought in the last 30 years are PS4 and X1, though I'll probably pick one or both up when a game comes out that looks interesting enough and isn't also coming to PC. I also do mobile gaming on my 3DS (and DS, GBA, GBC, GB before that) and phone as well. If I see a game that looks fun, I'll play it, I don't much care what hardware it's on.

But you're going to have to have a thicker skin than you're displaying here, and not just around a "gamer" crowd but in general with any interaction you have on the internet. The world is full of assholes, gamers or otherwise, and you can't keep letting them get to you.
As I said, man. Had a very bad day and needed something to rant.

Narakir: Why are you bored on PC ? Lack of controllers ? Steam ? Sitting on a chair instead of a couch ?

Sorry for lashing out.I just can't take elitism in any form of media, especially my favourite media that is gaming.
that's the dumbest reason i've ever heard. nobody's forcing you read everything. and it's entirely possible to play only single-player, no online-activation nonsense , games that don't require the internet.

hows about this? build a computer with no wireless, ethernet port, no bluetooth. use it to only play games.
or get a cheap laptop , play games outside, somewhere away from any people or internet connection, or gaming magazines.

if you can play console and handheld games without any virtual imaginary herpderp hardcore xtreme gamers in your head getting on your nerves, there's no excuse why you can't do it with pc gaming.

and Mustard Race thing was not invented by the fasttalking aussie guy. he spells correctly. reddit or 4chan probably bastardised it.

Yeah, MOBAs are not good game to destress, they are very competitive and have mostly toxic community.

I think you should stay away from multiplayer games, not from PC games. ;-)
Seriously best advice is not to play those games. Or turn off chat completely.

My advice? Just ignore it. There's a subset of ignorant fanboys/elitists on every platform who somehow think it "belongs" to them and them alone, and that they are the only opinion that counts. Console fanboyism can be just as bad, in my opinion.

I hardly fit any specific "gamer" label that people like to toss around. I find enjoyment in video games of all sorts, and whether or not it happens to be on my mobile devices, my consoles/handhelds, my PC/laptop; or cute "casual" games, violent war-themed FPS, sports games, family-friendly games -- I like them all and I do not tie myself down to a single platform because of some need to fit some sort of group or category. I just take the best of what is available and enjoy the hell out of it.

These days, there are so many varieties of games on all platforms that I think it mostly comes down to preferences in how you intend to physically use the devices. I enjoy mobile and handhelds of course for their ease of portability and playability wherever I may be -- good for travelling, toilet time, gaming in bed, etc. Laptops also come in handy for this, so PC is nice because then you have both a portable and a sit-down version in one. Consoles are nice because you can sit down on the sofa and chill in a more comfortable setting perhaps, and the fact that everything is designed for a control pad which you can hold in a variety of relaxed positions. I actually have an HTPC in which I have a computer hooked up to my TV, and so PC games are awesome because they give you even more flexibility with this and can sometimes get double-usage in home theater setups too. And of course, desktop PC at desk with chair and close distance to the monitor with standard keyboard/mouse + whatever other peripherals has a ton of options for precise input configuration, modding, and intricate, intense, focused gameplay which may be more difficult on other platforms.

I do have a slight preference however towards DRM-Free PC titles, and if something is available both on console/handheld/mobile as well as PC I will almost always go for the PC version first. The main reason why I prefer to have DRM-Free PC versions of games is due to the flexibility in how I can use them. Because basically you are unlimited in using it in a portable, home theater, or desktop setting and have the widest number of options in terms of usage setting and configurability.

So yeah, TLDR;

But basically, just enjoy the best of everything and ignore the idiots. Don't let the media or others dictate what you enjoy, lest you give them control over you.
