Hey all

I have an ongoing issue with steam support, its been going on for 8 weeks now, over 3 support tickets when they decided not to answer a question for 10 days on a ticket they had been answering daily.

Anyway, im fed up with their shit so I asked for the issue to be escalated to a manager or senior. and now im getting so much bullshit and serving around the issue. According to the tech i have been speaking to there is not a single manager in the whole of steam support. When I rephrased it and pointed out there must be some chain of command even if its not the manager title, they just repeated the same line.

How the hell do I get some progress with these retarded fucks?

Edit: To prove how stupid they are they want me to provide a screenshot of what they admitted only shows once that was on the 10th of October. When I asked how they linked me a guide on how to make a screenshot, when I asked to borrow a time machine to go back in time 34 days to get the screenshot they went a bit silent on that issue.

Yeah, when they tell you they don't have a superior, they ain't talking out of their asses.

Try to be sickeningly friendly with support. That usually helps. After the ordeal, I advise a good vodka rinsing to get that bile out of your system.

StealthMomo: Can you post screenshot of the ticket?
Not much point, id have to block 90% of it out as its account info. I can give you a short version or if there is something specific in the tickets your looking for I can likely copy paste it.
I'm sorry, I have nothing to add. But I will be following this thread with interest so I can learn from your experience. Steam support is notorious for this kind of treatment, unfortunately.

mhh strange most of the time, steam support has answered me back within 6-12h whenever I had issues with payments on really busy periods or games not showing in the library. Have you contacted the general english steam support? Changing your language or region might take much much longer.

"they decided not to answer a question for 10 days on a ticket they had been answering daily" Did they answer and decided not to respond any more and didn't they answer AT ALL?

As much as I enjoy Steam as a program and online store. Their help service are a bunch of cunts to say the least.

I've had 7 encounters with the support in the past years and all of them were really friendly people and responded pretty fast. I guess like all service desks you have to be lucky with the person who actually will handle your ticket. Activision support on the other hand has been a total mess with me with one of them closing the chat on me because I seem to know more than him. But then again Activision has made it to my never buy a title from them again just like EA :p
What's the problem you're actually trying to get help for?

This issue is over account security.

And looking over the employee handbook they retard ive been speaking to is being honest he doesnt have a manager, he only has peers who are not any higher in the chain than him. This added to the fact they do not have a complaints department means that im essentially fucked to try and resolve this through steam unless they start to play ball. There is no accountability for the lack of resolution on this.

That leaves me with 2 routes. Give them a set time to resolve this and then should it not be resolved escalate it above steam. Steam are bound by more than just their companies rules, they must abide with the laws of the country they provide a service too (learned that from them when they charged me multiple times for 1 game, they tried to give me gift versions of the game and when i refused that they offered the refund as steam wallet monopoly money, had to throw the lawbook at them to get the refund)

My next question however is what authority do they answer to when they are incapable of resolving the issue?

Short story is my account was hacked, I was in holland at the time and reported it, they told me an attempt had been made but was unsuccessful, when i returned to the UK i discovered they had lied and the account was breached, and they are still spouting bullshit about it never being accessed, when I asked them if a computer could be authorized on my account without the account being accessed they said no.

So in short they lied, they investigated it, lied to my face until i asked if it could be done and then told me in that way my account was breached, not in as many words but if it wasnt breached there would not have been another authorized computer on my account.

No screenshots then? So 80% of GOG users are Steam haters? Unless you can post screenshots then you're just claiming.

Are you serious?

Im admitting to being a steam user, im just trying to get a little assistance from a community that might be able to offer some advice. So if you have nothing insightful to add then kindly walk away, if you are willing to help than do so.

Insinuating that this is because you believe 80% of GOG users are STEAM haters and making it abundantly clear that you think this is based on giving steam a bad name is a bit dumb. Where did you get 80% from? unless you can provide screenshots your just claiming.

Hmm, you'd get the unauthorized message only if they fail to log in with the correct password, so if he does that once, you'll get that message and then if he does use the right password after you won't get another message since it's assumed that person then is the owner of the account. So it probably wasn't a lie but part of an evolving situation.

In that sense, someone probably had the correct password for your account (phishing link/keyloggers being the most common scenario's), after which they logged in and authorized whatever computer they were on.

At the very least that should show a new IP/Computer being logged on the account though, although you might want to be clear with support that that was not an authorized access. Not really sure what the people at support are trying to make you think otherwise there. I guess it may not help that you were A) not using or B) using the account from another country temporarily, as both may be deemed as flags of suspicious activity (or perhaps an unauthorized transfer/sale of account)

I assume you either lost stuff or had charged you want to reverse?

Either way sounds like a royal mess, though perhaps there's some confusiomn about what actually happened based on the way the ticket is phrased, sometimes it helps to be more clear and more concise with what happened. (then again sometimes being as elaborate as possible helps too ...)

I was not using the account in Holland.

I got an email of a password retrieval and i mailed support to get to the bottom of it. At that time I was told there was no access to my account.

I got home from holland and when i turned on the computer I had a message telling me that there was a new computer authorized on my account in Thailand. I contacted steam a second time with this information to be told that even though there was a new computer authorized on my account there had been no access (I used the link on that screen to unauthorize all computers)
Concerned about the account security I pursued the issue and eventually was informed that in order for a new computer to be added to my authorized lists the account needed to be accessed. In saying that they admitted to a blatant lie. They directly told me there was no signs of access. when the authorized computer according to them is the sign.

As far as I have seen there was nothing stolen, i do not know exactly what they had access too something steam wont answer either. I have seen no transactions. All this was about was account security, and after following it up I found the flaw in there replies and am now trying to get answers and they refuse to comply.

My issue is that they can read through all 3 tickets, they can see whats been said, they can see they provided incorrect information, they can see there are a lot of questions that i asked that they are ignoring. But they refuse to actually provide any customer service. At the end of the day im a steam user who has concerns regarding the security of my account. And instead of just answering the questions and providing the correct information they keep screwing around and skirting around the issue, avoiding direct questions and circling back.

Thats when I asked for the matter to be escalated. and since then ive been going round in circles with someone who's attitude is essentially "fuck off, you deal with me or piss off"
