Well, I dare think it depends on the language. For instance I think in french we say 'many scenarios' and not 'many scenarii' because the latin word has been kind of adopted and is not considered a Latin word but a new french one. I really have to go check on that right now because I might be completely imagining things.

un scénario (fr) = a sceanario
des scénarios (fr) = scenarii

It is a terrible disease. On other sites that allow a signature, I usually have some anti-apostrophe abuse slogans. The problem is that they are now teaching it in schools... The teachers are dumber than you can believe.

Addendum and erratum are another two, especially the latter. At my former company the words that ended up being used almost universally were "errata" to refer to a single software update (instead of the correct "erratum") and "erratas" to refer to multiple software updates (instead of the correct "errata"). Of course a small handful of us _always_ turned into "that guy" and corrected everyone who did this telling them it was like calling one update an "updates" and multiple updates "updateses".

Another pet peeve from back then was people using the word "deprecated" when they meant the actual word "depreciated" or vice versa either not knowing the actual meaning of the word they were using, or just spelling the wrong word.

I understand criterias and datas as "double plurals", but forums? Forum is singular form, fora is plural. Many dictionaries however accept forums as correct.

I'm a minute into it and still confused. Text-culture is lost on me.
