Just wanted to wish all the dads out there a very happy Father's Day!

Just wanted to point out that this holiday isn't happy for everyone. Some people have abusive dads, while others have dads that have passed away, while some were raised by single or lesbian mothers.

That is all.

Each and every day is as happy or as good as you make it despite any extenuating circumstances. My father has passed and does that make this day any less happy for others? No.

Should I be selfish in not wishing others a happy Father's Day just because my dad has passed? I don't think so.

If you choose to look at the negative side I'm sorry, but I would still wish you happiness no matter what.

Well said.

My heart goes out to all those who either had abusive fathers or no father at all, but it's no reason to ignore the dads out there, like mine, who busted their asses and gave their children someone to look up to.

Now I feel kind of shitty just giving my dad a stupid book about football today. :P

And on a side note, what is wrong with being raised by lesbian mothers?
A good parent is a good parent and bad one a bad one; gender and sexual preference don't enter into it.

Shit, now I'm actually kind of pissed.

Likewise! Happy Father's Day to all!

Now to run out before I'm late taking mine to brunch ;) Hey, it isn't just Mom's who deserve brunch ;)
It's not September 6.

I did not realize Father's Day was on different date in Australia. How about an early happy Father's Day then :)

Every holiday can be a sad, unhappy or non-existent one for people, for one reason or another.
Both my parents have passed, my mother quite recently. That doesn't mean that Mother's and Father's Day aren't their days anymore. Yes, I feel sad they're no longer here, but at the same time it's still their day, and I try and do something for them, in their memory.

I feel for all those whose parents are abusive. I'm sad mine are gone, but I'm still happy for all my friends whose parents are alive, and can celebrate these days in the more traditional way.

Happy Father's Day!

My wife took me to comedian Dara O'Briain last night for Fathers day, it made me very happy :)

Actually, it's also on different days in Europe. In Belgium it was last week while in France it was 2 weeks ago.

On my part, I offered one my old cellphones to my father as he's old and don't have one so in case of emergency (while he's on the road) he can still contact someone.

Don't joke about Mother's Day; my mother recently passed away.
We had her cremated.

We think that's what did it.

YEAH it's an old joke I've posted a thousand times before, but when something gets a laugh I stick with it! :P

I see now that Mother's Day and Father's Day is different depending on where you live, did not realize that before. Thanks for the heads up, always good to learn something new :)
