trentonlf: Each and every day is as happy or as good as you make it despite any extenuating circumstances. My father has passed and does her name this day any less happy for others? No.
Should I be selfish in not wishing others a happy Father's Day just because my dad has passed? I don't think so.
If you choose to look at the negative side I'm sorry, but I would still wish you happiness no matter what.
tinyE: Well said.
My heart goes out to all those who either had abusive fathers or no father at all, but it's no reason to ignore the dads out there, like mine, who busted their asses and gave their children someone to look up to.
Now I feel kind of shitty just giving my dad a stupid book about football today. :P
And on a side note, what is wrong with being raised by lesbian mothers?
A good parent is a good parent and bad one a bad one; gender and sexual preference don't enter into it.
Shit, now I'm actually kind of pissed.
Your dad busted his ass because that is what he "HAS TO DO". After all, he made kids with a woman. ITS THEIR DUTY to look after kids.
If he did not do that, then he would be running away from his responsibilities and society would shame him for that.
Plus, gender and sexual preference do enter into parenthood. Kids from a traditional family background fare better on average than kids from gay couple household.
The wisdom that a father gives to his kids cannot be given by lesbian mothers.
