paladin181: Because only the half or so of the consumers who liked the original release were willing to repurchase that shitshow of a game. Not to mention there are far better reasons than Steam ratings to bring or not bring a game here. Good ratings won't necessarily get you in, but bad ratings could keep you out.
What about votes and wishlist entries? Whatever happened to "the game comes here if it gets 500+ votes", rumor of old? Since a part of the community are certain that they want it and are going to get it, the moment it arrives DRM-Free, then what is the problem, exactly? Should the part of the community who don't want the product, oppress the part that want it AND lead GOG into a number of lost sales? Will they *BLACKMAIL* GOG again that "they will stop shopping games and tell all of their friends to do the same", if GOG doesn't ban "toxic elements"?

I'm not going to get into a discussion with you that gives you excuse to spew your hate speech all over a topic and get it closed. Sorry.

YOU are deciding what games i am allowed to shop here and i am using hate speech? How? Is defending your (customer) rights "hate speech"? Or i make sense and you run out of arguments, you don't want to admit i am right? Either way, not my loss. GOG 's losing extra income. Because of people like you, who have an insatiable urge to dictate and impose on the service+community, what games should or shouldn't be accepted here, even if lots of other people are going to buy them.

Kindly, sir, check your privilege. K, thanks.

Which makes it all the more amazing he also managed to win three NFL Championships, and two Super Bowl Championships with the Green Bay Packers.

Philosophy, football, and getting rejected by GOG. That's enough for ten people!
Unfixed microissues can do that.

Game looks like a perfect fit for GOG. It doesn't look like some kind of asset flip game or a shallow mobile game. This type of "curation" is not good.

And whoever is happy that this game got rejected is a lunatic or worse. Hating the game because of it's creator is ridiculous. As if less games on GOG is a good thing...

Don't compare this with Wizardry, yes some might like this game but that comparison can honestly just fuck right off.
Well, I see this thread evolved in a completely rational way.

tinyE: Remember when this happened over Hatred?
All the people that cursed out GOG, went out and bought it, realized the game sucks. XD
If someone will buy first Might and Magic or first Wizardry or Ultima I or any game from Jeff Vogel from GOG store, not knowing what they are beforehand, they will be much more disappointed than if they would have bought Grimoire.

Not mentioning that such "hidden gems" as ArcaniA or Might and Magic IX that are also available in GOG store.

There are more than 600 votes on GOG wishlist for Grimoire, and there is good reason for that. It is very similar in style to great RPGs from early 90s, which in many aspects were better than current RPG releases.

I would understand all this outrage, from people who have actually played the game and consider that it's worthwhile. But as far as I understand it, this is not the case for this game.

But then again I can only speak, based on the version that was released on STEAM two years ago. I don't know if the game been updated since, to alleviate all the issues that plagued it on launch. Maybe somebody can comment on the updates, if any were released.

Aalda11: Yeah the author seems to be a crackpot but development studios are full of crackpots, assholes, BS-ers and frauds. I don't see Randy Pitchford's, David Cage's or Sean Murray's games being punished.

So if we take the author by his word and GOG really rejected the game for being too "niche" it's a complete outrage. It's a direct Wizardry 7 spiritual successor. You know, one of the best RPGs of all times? And besides, hasn't GOG been built on the backs of old and niche games?

I've been fanboying this store for years but this is a really deep disappointment, especially if it proves to be a trend.
If I were the one to make such decisions I would turn down the game simply because I don't want to be in business with Cleve. He is a lunatic. And in this case that would outweigh any benefits of carrying the game.

This isn't taking political sides and it isn't about political correctness or anything. Cleve is an absolute untrustworthy lunatic, and I would not want to enter into a business relationship with him.
Blobbers are indeed too niche. Good thing we have HOGs, VNs, and Metroidvanias to fill the gap.
