budejovice: It's about Foxconn. I had a friend who worked for them (acoustical engineer). He was loaned to them by Dell. Foxconn supplies parts for all manufacturers. Only one of their buyers is evil? FFS.

you called me a fool. ever used a thesaurus? and yeah, apologising for evil , whether apple or HP or dell, will make you look like a scumbag no matter what. stop embarassing yourself. and check your privileges while you work on your reading comprehension or apologetics.

and sure, i believe you're a friend of a friend of foxconn. i can ever tell you my dad worked for nintendo! of course, being a "friend" of foxconn would make you kind of a shill for evil practises, wouldn't it? doh!

Are you the dude with 14 shares of Microsoft?

Johnathanamz: snip
Why don't you take your poor incoherent posts to a thread that's not full of Linux users?
I mean, the chance of you being taken seriously is not very high in this thread.

Dude you really are an idiot. I've owned 2 macs in 40 years, no iphones, and no ipads. Your beginning statement was idiotic and really all subsequent assumptions have been beyond idiotic. but whatever. stay arrogant.

Johnathanamz: I'm not afraid of Linux. I had Linux installed on one of my PC's in 2014 for 1 month.
Wow, you must be a real expert then! :D

Jokes aside, what many before me have already said. Nowadays, anyone can make a smooth transition from Windows to any Linux distro. Save for any rare hardware incompatibility, you'll hardly need to touch the terminal, if at all.

However, I heavily encourage anybody with a minimum of curiosity and eagerness for learning to try it out. Once you start to see its huge potential and versatility you won't want to go back to certain GUIs. I mean, come on! This is (or used to be) called Good Old Games for a good reason: many of the regulars here must have started toying around with PCs during the MS-DOS era, right? The idea of a command line shouldn't be that scary for you.

Or is my personal experience blinding me and everybody here learned to use a PC with a mouse and not with a keyboard? :\

So, what's a good Linux distro? No, not Ubuntu please. Name the best Linux distro that is available. I only ask because people here just mention "Linux". Sure, you recommend me to eat fruits, but do you eat apples? Oranges? Mangoes? Same here. Is it Linux Mint? Perseus?

Thanks in advance.

What's your gripe with Ubuntu, if I may ask?

Linux Mint seems to be usual recommendation for newcomers. But it happens to be based on Ubuntu (and it shares a lot of things with it), so I don't know if it would be your best fit...

Last time I installed Ubu- oh wait, that never happened. I couldn't even get Ubuntu to install on my device as a dualboot with Win8.1 (back when I had it). I ended up getting LXLE which was based on Ubuntu yet could be installed. At the same time, it feels like Ubuntu loves to be slow even from the hard drive. Though that could be just me.

I strongly recommend trying Linux Mint. Have a look at the giveaway thread I did a while ago, I posted a lot of screenshots of the KDE edition & information about Mint there. Here's the link to it:
