for spotlighting my flaws (I didn't think of checking that).
Voting someone because they helped others....seems rather odd....you must be the scumderer! ;D

But nah, yer cool for now.

FlockeSchnee: And for continued suggestion of physical activity (going to the gym).
Well such activity is also a good thing. :)

Also in case yer curious, this is who my name is based on
(note to all: above is wikipedia link)

FlockeSchnee: And noone did so already and I like feeling special.
Everyone does, though voting me is nothing special tbqh.....I usually get voted sometime before end of D2 and either NKd or voted most times before then as well.

ZFR: I did (and it's a very nice idea by dedo, since it gives the IC some strategy to consider: stay hidden for the mathematical advantage or reveal early to take away the Day Chat from scum). But I was referring purely to EV calculations; Day Chat doesn't influence them.
Eh, i'm no maths wiz.....still, i'd figure removing scum day chat would give town a better advantage then leaving it active. :|

GymHenson:
Wishful thinking, there is only a 20% chance of that.
avatar
GymHenson: So you didn't see the part in the OP post about scum having a day chat and a night chat until the IC outs themselves?

Enough is enough. That right there: Mafia wielding the ultimate weapon of destruction - Math. I should know. I dared touch a simple enough looking calculation thingy once and I got mislynched for it.

Out of curiosity though: EV? Estimated Victory?

Is day-chat really that useful? To experienced players? Which you all are?

FlockeSchnee: Is day-chat really that useful? To experienced players? Which you all are?
Very useful from past experience.
avatar
FlockeSchnee: Is day-chat really that useful? To experienced players? Which you all are?
It is. It allows scum to coordinate their attacks and defenses. It's usefulness increases somewhat with the number of scum player, but even with two scum having a secret channel is useful.

In a three-scum setup I rated giving them Day-chat as half an additional player. Don't know how big the advantage is mathematically for two scum. But it definitely is there.

Expected Value.

We have GymHenson serving waffles.

Something feels off there.

ZFR: With all that in mind, the only thing I'd ask Town is not to put anyone at L-1 before giving them the chance to claim, to prevent accidental or "accidental" lynches. If you want to put someone at L-1, say so without doing it. Let them claim. Especially with an even number of players where NL is much better than Unclaimed Lynch.
Anyone who hammers the IC should probably be policy lynched as likely scum. Either they are scum trying to push it home, or they aren't paying enough attention to be helping the good guys. Potential exceptions exist on Day Of Lynch, where time is running out.

In other news, Micro, Catte, Nmillar, and Pookina have yet to make an appearance.

Lifthrasil: Don't know how big the advantage is mathematically for two scum. But it definitely is there.
For EV calculations: none. Since EV assumes lynches/NKs are done randomly.

For real life games? Tough to say: the 1/2 a player is a good rule of thumb for the game sizes we have here on GOG. Depends on the players. And I think the advantage is bigger when power roles are in play and better
coordination is more useful than in vanilla.

blotunga: Wishful thinking, there is only a 20% chance of that.
Eh, i'll take them odds.

@Flocke(Post 19): I have played quite a bit, but am still(due to various factors) a perpetual greenhorn. When I had day chat in prior games, long ago, it didn't help me much. But yeah, it's likely a big help to those who know how to use it right.....which, given the current player group, the scum team likely can.

The last 2 times it happened here one was by "Jesterish" gogtrial and was in fact done on purpose and the other... anyone remembers? Was it Lift? Was it scum? I'm pretty sure it was accidental.

With me, everything feels off sooner or later....just ask all the regulars here.

Anyway, what's this about some waffles? Do I like like a wise cracking donkey to ya? ;D

This of course refers to our current setup. I imagine one can come up with some crazy-ass PR setup where Day Chat actually does affect EV.
