VOTE COUNT

GymHenson 2 - Bookwyrm627 (#24), Pookina (#135)
Bookwyrm627 2 - blotunga (#5), GymHenson (#7)
blotunga 1 - Micorfish_1 ([#32)
Lifthrasil 1 - ZFR (#138)
ZFR 1 - nmillar (#158)

Not voting - Catte, Lifthrasil, FlockeSchnee

With 10 players it takes 6 votes to achieve a lynch.

Bookwyrm627 and GymHenson are closest to lynch at L-4.

D1 ends in approximately 2 days.
Deadline is coming up. People need to start making decisions.

People I'm not voting at this time: Flock, Lift, Wyrm
People I'm less concerned about at this time: Micro, Pooka
People I wouldn't mind seeing lynched: ZFR, Catte, Blotunga
People I'd prefer to see lynched: GH, Nmillar
Lift is my top choice
GH is next, I'm not sure my tell is as strong as I thought it is, plus at the very least it would remove a distraction.
Bookwym next.

Neutral on nmillar, catte, Micro, Pooka. Normally the first two would be in the if-you-have-nothing-better-lynch-the-lurky-ones bucket.

Town-reading Flocke and blontunga. Blotunga said something recently that struck me as very Towny, but I can't put my finger on it. Going to do a reread.

PS, Flocke made me realise that one advantage of having a spare NL is for Town players who have to quit and no replacement can be found.
Still, with a spare NL, I'm not voting on anyone Neutral and below. I'm wondering about Bookwyrm too, not sure how newbie-protection works with players who have just been missing.
Nope, reread blotunga's post, not many of them there, and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Regardless, not lynching today even if in neutral.

I'm glad you're making decisions, but any specific reasoning or is it just gut feeling?
OK, reread nmillar.

I'm not a huge fan of him voting me just because others weren't in a case of me vs GH (I think that's BW's case against him?), but I don't think it makes him particularly scummy. In fact scum!nmillar has no reason to do it.

If GH is scum, then scum!nmillar would either be bussing/distancing from his buddy or surreptitiously try to get the wagon elswhere. He wouldn't be openly saying "hey, attention everybody! I'm purposely voting ZFR to take some pressure off GH" because that kind of thing will come under spotlight should scumGH eventually be lynched.

If GH is Town on the other hand, then scum!nmillar would more likely sit and watch a Townie's wagon grow, instead of starting a wagon on a new Townie, that is less likely to succeed with 1 vote (and for those of you who can't know I'm Town, nmillar isn't likely to start a wagon on scum!ZFR either while drawing so much attention to it).

So in both cases, it doesn't make sense for scum!nmillar to act this way. I guess it could be done to appear busy without commiting himself to GH's wagon (and if GH is Town and later flip so to be all "I told you so"), but still that's pretty weak. I'll leave nmillar on neutral.

I think I did all the rereading I need. Nothing really changed on my list.

ZFR: I'm wondering about Bookwyrm too, not sure how newbie-protection works with players who have just been missing.
Meh, I don't need newbie protection. I've been absent, but I haven't forgotten everything and being (yet again) the D1 lynch isn't going to perturb me in the slightest.

ZFR: What's your case?
I really don't like why he placed his vote. He's offered nothing of his own thoughts or interpretations; he's just picking from among two players that other people have stated they found suspicious and he's picking the one that doesn't have a vote yet from among those two players. Apparently the only reason he voted you is because others thought you might be scum and you didn't have a vote.

This kind of tag-a-long no-opinions is scum behavior, though usually it is less blatant.

Flocke: I like what I've seen of his posting thus far. I'm attempting to discount the apparent replacement request as evidence in either direction.

Lift: I've already stated why I'm reading Lift as town.

Wyrm: Lock town, obviously.

Micro: I'm not feeling anything off yet, though there isn't much here. Subject to change if he doesn't get more involved.
Pooka: Basically the same as Micro.

Blotunga: This is nearly the same case as Micro and Pooka. I'm not quite as comfortable, but he could easily slot next to them.

Catte: There's nothing to read here. I acknowledge life circumstances have pulled you away for a time, but as a player I need you to eventually get into the game so I can at least take a guess at your alignment.

ZFR: He's been out for blood at first. On the one hand, I can respect that. On the other, there's something about how he's going about things that bothers me. For example, the argument with GH felt manufactured and about basically nothing.

GH: Parts of his posting have felt off. Nothing in particular, but I don't like the feel I'm getting.

Nmillar: See above in my reply to ZFR.

Are you sure? nmillar himself stresses that he's inexperienced. Also, nmillar might still be scum with you and he might have taken an opportunity of low-risk distancing with you. I read you as Town so far, but that doesn't mean that I can ignore the possibility of you being scum.

Hmm. And when the argument against GH gained traction, ZFR retreated and found a (flimsy) town-tell. ... Maybe I was too hasty with Town-reading ZFR and maybe he actually is scumbuddies with GH.

But for now I want a reply from nmillar. Opportunistic voting, no other own contribution and a self-excuse as inexperienced player. That does look off. Until he replies, I'll

vote nmillar

Lifthrasil: Upon re-reading I wonder: is this true? Or do you use your relative new-ness as cover to try to fly under the radar? Or is it true AND you use it as as cover?
I was in game 1. How am I classified as "new"?

avatar
FlockeSchnee: If I may ask, how many Mafia games have you played in?
I honestly have no idea. Well into double-figures though. When we first started playing here, I was involved in pretty much every game going, with varying degrees of success.

Standard day 1 for me. Without any genuine information (lynch, NK, etc.), it's all conjecture. The game doesn't really start until day 2, which is when I'll start looking at stuff like voting patterns.

Lifthrasil: nmillar himself stresses that he's inexperienced.
He said the exact opposite. He said he's experienced.
Not much to go on, not much crystalized. I think wyrm and zfr trying to somehow make lynch-wishlist is commendable, but not really something we can rely on since we're kinda in the dark. Well, except scum, who probably laugh their asses off in day chat about how nicely they manipulate us. Alas no reason to change vote yet, I don't think I can commit into lynching anyone for something serious, I didn't see any such. So I'm willing to vote almost everyone if something gets going, except Flocke, being day 1 and such.

Didn't somebody else raise a point against someone about a lack of attentiveness? This feels really off.

Unvote ZFR. Vote Lifthrasil

You stressed, that you have no clue what you do. I read that as a self-declaration of inexperience. That both you and ZFR now try to sell the statement:

avatar
nmillar: I played in game 1. I still don't have a clue what I'm doing.
as self-declaration of experience makes it look even more off. In what world is 'I have no clue what I am doing' equivalent to 'I am experienced'?

OK, inexperienced was maybe the wrong word. You played in a lot of games, but if you don't declare a lingering inexperience, as I interpreted your statement, you instead declare yourself incompetent. But I didn't want to insult you.

My point stays: you give yourself a free pass for errors or low contribution by stating 'I have no clue what I am doing'. And you didn't contribute any own thoughts. You just picked a side in an ongoing discussion and were done with it. Vote stays.

Lifthrasil: You stressed, that you have no clue what you do. I read that as a self-declaration of inexperience.
Sorry, but I read that as an experienced player comforting a newbie. Like a kid is unhappy because he missed a penalty and Messi saying "don't worry kid, I miss penalties all the time."
