Sorry everyone.

I've got a super-stacked real life at the moment, and just haven't had the time and attention to do anything worthwhile, I got problems on top of problems IRL... not going for the pity play so I can discuss later if needed

I'm Vanilla Town

About the only thing I can say in my defense is that if I were scum, I'd be:

a) Way less likely to be so afk and suck so bad since other people would be relying on me
b) At least voting some townie or another

Most of the ISOs I read all left me feeling like "seems good?"

I do note that three players I haven't really tried hard to analyze are my current wagon

so I'm thinking

that might not be a coincidence

Carradice: I do not get what you expect to get from milking this.
To understand what you mean so I ask a proper follow-up question if I understood your meaning correctly or not if I didn't. Like how you're explaining that you were waiting to see if another wagon would pick up in order for you to avoid exposing the role but previously you said

avatar
Carradice: However, things were looking grim. Even if I waited, it was not going to improve. So, yes, I claimed literally minutes before the end of the game day.
If it was obvious that things are going to improve why did you push it towards the very end and not leave the people who were there some more time to work with? Also, what made you thing things would improve so it was a good idea to sit on it until the very last minutes?

avatar
Carradice: It exposed the cop role and therefore it was rendered useless for that game night. Such situations are a big waste. I hoped never to have to do that.
Also, you stated that you dislike the Cop role and see it as a crutch (not your own words but it was implied) as it takes away from the game. Why the lament?

avatar
Carradice: If all your questions are like this one...
I'll ask any question I feel the answer to might make things in the game even slightly clearer for me. Thank you.
I believe the correct mechanical play is still to leave Carradice alive. He'll self-resolve.

If he's Town Cop, scum will have to kill him eventually... or keep using their role-block on him, which means whatever other roles we have in play will be able to work.

If he's Mafia, he'll just keep surviving and we'll get him eventually.

yogsloth: I'm Vanilla Town
Are you sure about that?
avatar
yogsloth: I'm Vanilla Town
avatar
dedoporno: Are you sure about that?
Functionally.

I'm not going to get into the exact flavor discrepancies in my PM because F that.
avatar
Lifthrasil: @Carradice: please explain ZFR's observation about the discrepancy between 'long overdue' and 'Cop'. In what way does 'long overdue' refer to anything but Vanilla in your situation? And in what way does is refer specifically to Cop?
avatar
Carradice: It was indeed long overdue. I had been trying to avoid having to claim in this game as Town. That way, I might have used the cop checks freely. However, things were looking grim. Even if I waited, it was not going to improve. So, yes, I claimed literally minutes before the end of the game day. It exposed the cop role and therefore it was rendered useless for that game night. Such situations are a big waste. I hoped never to have to do that. But... it seems it was coming.
This answer has nothing to do with the question.

Here is what you wrote.

avatar
Carradice: You can consider this anyway: those who were with me in the last three games, do you remember the alignments and roles that I was getting? This one was long due...
After JOAT, Jester(?), Redirector, why is a Cop "long due"?
And why did you post this riddle, instead of just saying Cop?

Interesting, there are no voters in common between the SPF wagon and mine.

I need to try and read Vitek. It's been so long, I have no idea what I'm looking for anymore, but need to see why he's not on microfish anymore.

Same for dedo, who I guess doesn't have an opinion anymore?

Same for everyone not voting for SPF, really. I get that I've been so absent I make for an easy target, for scummy malfeasance or townie frustration.

Lift, you don't want to lynch the claimed town cop anymore?

Micro?
While everyone was still talking amongst themselves, a familiar cloud of smoke appeared in another corner of the room. The now familiar face of the merchant appearing before them (along with the body, of course).

Seeing everyone in a seeming state of disarray, he asked, "Friends, what seems to be the matter?"

"Three of us are now gone. One due to imprisonment, and another due to what seems to have been either an unfortunate accident or foul play. And we don't want don't want to talk about the third!" said one, while another replied "What do you want of us, merchant? Make it quick."

The merchant went over to the table and grabbed what seemed to be a pouch of herbs and bandages and waved their hands over it before it vanished in a puff of smoke. He then did the same to another of his fine cakes, which vanished in a similar manner.

"For the ones not among you, gods watch over them" he replied to the crowd, before taking a small blue bottle filled with pills, partaking of one first to show their safety, and then leaving the bottle near the queen, telling her. "You seem to be in need of this with all that has been going on...and I do appreciate all your business, so to you, another gift".

After these gestures the merchant then motioned to his wares and asked everyone if they'd like anything before he left, several attendees buying this and that and sundry in response, and then with his business concluded he disappeared once more. When and where he would show up again to be a future mystery.

Hoda sighed again. She couldn't fathom what those pills were all about. Oh well, she could have someone else test them for her later.

Yogsloth is closest to lynch, at L-3.
10 players. It takes 6 to lynch.
Court Phase 2 will end on Wednesday, 1st July at 7PM London Time (UTC+1). Nearly two days left!

I have an opinion. It's just that you happened to make your claim while I was getting ready to leave work. Also, I'm waiting for something to happen before continuing.

No. As dedoporno pointed out, if we lynch Town, we're at MYLO tomorrow.

So in that situation, if Carradice is Town Cop, scum don't even have to block him. Carradice accuses someone of being scum at MYLO, would we beleive him?
Heck, any ivestigative Role comes out at MYLO with I tracked X or I watched Y. Do we believe them?

We'll running out of "eventually".

Carradice: It was indeed long overdue.
...
I do not get that vanilla thing that you mention. When do you say that I wrote "vanilla"? When I finally described my assigned role, it was very clearly written "cop".
1. How? Why was Cop a role that was long overdue for you?

2. I didn't say that you wrote Vanilla. Why do you pretend that I said that? I said that the most logical 'role' that would be long overdue after having been PR several times in a row would be Vanilla. So your teasing your role in post 540 pointed to Vanilla. Which doesn't match your later claim of Cop.

To prevent you from misunderstanding what I just wrote, again, I'll go into more detail.
- In Post 540 you teased your role with the words "those who were with me in the last three games, do you remember the alignments and roles that I was getting? This one was long due..."
- We know that you got PRs in the previous games. So another PR was surely not 'long overdue'
- You had stated previously that you disliked roles. I.e. that you preferred to be Vanilla. So Vanilla must have been 'long overdue' for you.
- You even wrote previous to this game that you would prefer a no-PR game. So again, 'no-PR', which means Vanilla, would be the most logical assumption about what you meant when you said that the role you got was long due.
- SPF /SMFR even said so in Post 543, that he interprets your post as a Vanilla soft-claim.
- but in the next post, 544, you claim Cop instead.

So, I ask you again: please explain how your post 540 fits in any way to the Cop claim you made later. Why did you write: "those who were with me in the last three games, do you remember the alignments and roles that I was getting? This one was long due..." about the Cop role you got?

yogsloth: Lift, you don't want to lynch the claimed town cop anymore?
No, I don't. Which is why I'm not voting Carradice but you.
Are you trying to imply that I wanted to lynch the claimed Cop on D1? When I voted him, he hadn't claimed yet and when he claimed (about an hour before the deadline, if I interpret the tags correctly) I wasn't around to react to that. Was that the point you were trying to make? Or were you just writing something to be writing anything?
avatar
ZFR: So in that situation, if Carradice is Town Cop, scum don't even have to block him. Carradice accuses someone of being scum at MYLO, would we beleive him?

Right. If we mislynch Today and another Townie goes down Tonight, Any scum investigative result can potentially be the final nail in the cofin so it has to be taken with extreme scrutiny and consideration. A Town read would be a lot less impactful but may also serve as a scum cover up. Anyway, none of this has happened yet so no point in speculating about it right now. Let's cross that bridge first and continue from there.

yogsloth: Functionally.

I'm not going to get into the exact flavor discrepancies in my PM because F that.
Right. That took a while as I wanted to make sure Pooka doesn't mind even though it's perfectly in line with the rules. By our exchange it should be obvious to anyone who is paying the slightest attention that there is in fact some discrepancy here. I see it, I'm pretty sure others also saw it or will eventually see it when they make an appearance (also kudos to whomever might have seen it and didn't join - the two of us are more than enough at this point).

I agree it's not the best way to scumhunt or confirm a fellow Townie but I can't unsee your claim and discard it, either. So I'd like it resolved right away in order for us to move along. I would like to see your real, full role, please. No need to go into the actual flavor for your character. Your role, as-is, would suffice. If you're what you claim you are you know exactly what I'm referring to. If you're not - well...

That piece of information was likely going to pop up naturally anyway so there is no reason to withhold it at this point.
Right. I've finished this bastard read of dedoporno. I've made a few attempts to do it since friday evening and it just felt like work and I put it off and I realised now that I've not made a post for three days.

There's actually lots of stuff in my read that makesme think dedo is town:

early on dedo describes good scum strategy, and pretty much exactly how he'd been playing the game. Is dedo the sort of person who would get a lol out of that as scum?

At the end of this post he explains how ZFR's logic is bad and ZFR should still be suspicious of him. It's disgustingly honest. Or maybe just pernickity?

Again he encourages ZFR to continue scum reading him. Looking at this again the pre-emptive defensiveness of the act makes it less noble than I originally read it.

I think I decided this was his first earnest post of the game. I tagged it so I must have had some opinion on it but I can't think what that was now. Right now it just looks like someone trying to make sense of gamerager which isn't alignment indicative for anybody involved...

^ okay so it's looking like maybe I'm just not very good at reading half the things I tagged look different on a second look.

Here are some things I tagged that don't look so towny:

This reaction to my vote-then-decide-it's-a-bad-vote-but-don't-unvote-for-like-two-days - I mean, really this could go either way it was just a stupid thing of me to do. But his generosity in giving me a sort of benefit-of-the-doubt; "If you have anything that actually makes sense I'd like to hear it" or whatever it is is a little unsettling : does he genuinely have faith in me? Is he nervous that there is more and he's being baited? The latter appeals

This list doesn't look good. Especially from my point of view where 3 of his 4 most scummy are town, and gogtrial in his most-town was the nightkill.

a little while later he appears to be reconsidering those reads

but at the end of this post not much has changed. (Well, Joe is gone to be fair)

Generally:
Dedo has not had a lot of attention to devote to the game, and has mentioned that a few times. Despite that he is far from being the least active player

His posts are very likeable

I'm not sure I'd say there's a lot of scumhunting going on - his reads are a bit vague and open to doubt, (I know! people in glass houses and all that) and there are a couple of occasions where his "I've got a bite" reactions and questions seem quite genuine.

I JUST REMEMBERED something I was going to mark but seem to have missed. (Or maybe I linked to it but commented on a different part of the post) - when he unvoted me his thought process seemed very natural, linking me to two previous games where he scum-read me when I was each alignment.

OKAY I'm gonna say overall read: TOWNISH. If he's scum he's putting effort in and that hardly seems fair.

-----

Right. I'm never doing that again.

Yogsloth - claimed fairly unprompted and with still some time till deadline. I was shocked when he did because I didn't imagine he would conceivably be a lynch, but then I saw he was top of the votecount.

I thought of something that looked like a contradiction in what yogsloth was saying, but now I look at it it might not be and either way it's probably not relevant to role so can someone remind me to ask about it at the end.

Right I'm posting this now. I should read the weekend posts again (all five of them) and put my vote down but it might have to wait till the morning. Sorry.

Just before I go - on carradice: carradice/zfr feels like town v town. POSSIBLY scum v scum?? it'd be kinda cool if it was. ZFR makes fair points about the way the claim was made, but his statement "no town would do it like this" I'm not actually sure about - I do think town carradice might do exactly this.

I'm torn. My gut says town based on his tone. But if he turns up scum and I was fully aware of how bad his claim looks AND I went and got that supporting evidence from the harry potter game I will feel very stupid.

Oh. Actually yeah - yogsloth you should answer this question.

The contradiction I mentioned in my last post is actually relevant to this: On my recent readthrough I noticed that earlier in the game Yogsloth posted:

avatar
yogsloth: I'm old, I'm drunk, and I live for the Queen!
which seems clear that it's a summary of his role flavour (we have seen how the public character is an old drunk)

And him saying that seemed contrary to his general 'sharing role details is instant-modkill on MU so I never do it', and I thought he was contrary to this contrar again when he posted:

avatar
yogsloth: I'm not going to get into the exact flavor discrepancies in my PM because F that.
which at first I read as "the exact flavour details" and so misunderstood, and then when I read discrepancies I wasn't sure what he meant and thought he was maybe getting at something pooka's written that is differrent to what he'd associate with the role.

Now dedo's said this I see what is being driven at, and if the moderator's happy for us to use this as a tool I think we should go with it.

SO my point is Yogsloth, you've already broken your no-flavour rule with the old drunk liveforthequeen bit, so you may as well give up any reservations you have about this new game
