All the guards went up to the Throne Room. Aybak, as usual, locked the room shut and handed the keys.

But right off the bat, Tareq Gamal and Faris al Adham had a heated argument. While Faris spoke little, Tareq threw a whole lot of insults. In front of the Queen. How dare the worn out furniture that she called her guards use her swear words?

"SIIIIIILENCE!" she screamed, her face contorting. Yet, the two were so engrossed in their argument, they ignored the Queen's order! Or at least Tareq did. No guard could hear a word from Faris. That was it. She would call it High Treason, if it wasn't for those pesky human rights groups that actually did their jobs. But she had one solution.

"Toss this fucker into the dungeons! When the GODDAMN QUEEN can't do a thing with you, I-I'll" she continued on rambling incoherently. That's how bad Tareq broke her.

After realizing the guards would drag his butt back to the dungeons again, he knew he really was a horrible guard and there was no escape from the dungeons. So he did the unexpected. He ran as quickly as possible to one of the walls of the room, and banged his head repeatedly against it until he collapsed on the floor.

The room fell silent. Even Hoda was at a loss of words.

The Golden Throne room was unlocked once more, and not even five minutes after the admission of Maarouf to the medical quarters, Tareq joins him. Alive, and well. But most importantly, was he a rebel?

Perhaps not.

Something I don't understand. - it's not abnormal (actually in my personal experience it's perfectly normal but maybe I just haven't played enough) for preventive roles like Doctors and Roleblockers to have to alternate between targets to combat potential deadlocks. Yet a few people have assumed that the claimed Cop will be perma-blocked and that more or less makes them expendable at this point (assuming they are really what they claim to be). That's weird to me.

I want to re-read the latest posts of Today as last evening I just lost the desire to immerse in the game and went on to play video games instead but Lift's and Trent's posts weirded me out a bit (in different ways and about different topics).

I feel uneasiness about Yog as well but Lift's latest vote contrasts with that so probably it's better to not speak from memory while trying to work and read properly after going back home.

Which is why I assume that they will either be perma-roleblocked, if Scum can do that. Or killed in the next Night, if Scum can't perma-block someone. One way or the other, we must assume that our Cop, if we ever had one, is either useless or as good as dead now. I guess we will see if Carradice survives another Night and then claims to have been blocked again. For Today, as written before, I work on the assumption that Carradice's claim was true since there was no counter-claim and a Cop is a reasonable role to expect, even in a closed setup.

I have seen it both ways and I can't tell which one is more common. I think it can go both ways and neither of them is unlikely.

OK, regarding the flip:

Pooka is fully aware of "Follow the Cop" strategy, so the Doctor's presence could lend credence to the presence of a Blocker to counter it.

Or it could mean there is no Cop at all...

So far we have seen 3 confirmed Town roles (Visitor, Commuter, Doctor). Would Pooka add Cop on top of all that? It has been discussed in both the Harry Potter game and Joe Sapphire's restaurant, that having too many Town roles, even if "weak" ones, gives Town too big an advantage because of the number of "confirmed" Townies late game.

On the third hand, this is Pooka's first Mafia game hosting, and I assume his first setup design. The temptation is there to make role madness.

Hmmm.... Carradice's claim looks worse with the Doc flip.

I've never seen Blocker limited this way, and I've seen it in about half the cases on the Doc.

But regardless of how it's implemented this game, the fact remains that a claimed Cop has lost his abilities. If he can't be blocked, he'll be NKed, which is what Lift wrote. The only use for them lies in their "confirmed" Townie status (air quotes on confirmed, since it depends on him telling the truth), which forces Mafia to waste an NK on him.
I find it weird that you find it weird. Did you seriously expect Cop to be still of some investigative use because hey, maybe he's not perma-blocked so when the Blocker has to alternate, our Cop will give us results tomorrow?

That's the point. If they can't block the Cop they are forced to kill them. If you choose to believe the claim they you believe the alignment by extension. If you believe the alignment why would you do scum's dirty work for them in order to "eliminate a distraction"? A [real] Cop is just as much if not more so distraction for the scum. They are forced to lock some action on it.

Of course, if you have chosen to not fully believe the claim all of the above is meaningless.

(Also in light of scene's flip) do you belive Carradice's claim?

Leaving everything else aside - I don't have a valid reason not to. So I do.

Up till scene's flip I was leaning that way too. But now we have a full Town Doctor and a full Town Cop in one setup. That also featured a 1-shot commuter. And a Compulsive Visitor.

I know it's not necessarily true, but visitor suggests a Tracker/Watcher type.

There are just too many Town roles here.

A Cop fake-claim before death could be done not only to save one's skin but to draw a counter-claim. If one is about to be lynched, might at least make the death mean something.
