I realize this may look scummy to some, but ME DONTS CARE. I still think JMich is the scummiest of the lurkers, but as I said before, I'll happily take some of the others as well.

Let's start the new year the right way, by viciously sacrificing one of our own in an ancient blood ritual! Hooray!
avatar
JMich: Since when does visiting a scum get you killed?
avatar
Lifthrasil: Since there are roles that can kill you, when you visit them. The ability to kill someone defensively does not make you town automatically. Especially not in a game like this.
There are two roles that kill when visited. Paranoid Gun Owner and Bomb. Both of them more likely to be town than scum. PGOs kill on any visit, Bombs kill on kill. So while that doesn't mean Robb is necessarily town, I still haven't read any other plausible explanations.
Quick check-in. I'll be back from holiday fun late tomorrow (about 24 hours.)
I must say I am surprised DD has not responded. She has been on the forums in other places. I realize it's the holidays still and a lot of people are absent, but since she has been posting in the forums in other places it makes it seem as if she is choosing to ignore the game in hopes of the focus moving to someone else.

She did mention in the conversation thread that she had some family stuff or something. But it does look like she might be avoiding posting because she doesn't know how to respond to the lynch pressure.

I apologise for not being as active on the Mafia thread, I have had a lot on recently and have not been in the right frame of mind to get into the game, and for that I apologise. It has nothing to do with me trying to avoid discussion about the recent change it attitude towards lynching me. I was still posting in other threads, but only casual conversations and silliness, something to help take my mind of things and pass the time as I was working. I will try to get caught up later today and post my response tonight when I finish work.
Okay, first things first, I should technically only have one vote, as two of you spelt my name wrong ;-). Secondly, I apologise for any spelling errors or anything that doesn't make sense, I'm exhausted today and I am prone to make silly mistakes. And just for Hyper: to to, do do, and so so ;-).

On to the game. I'm not sure what I can say to persuade you that I'm Town, I realise my actions have lead to me being considered Scum, or leaning towards Scum, but if I were actually Scum, do you not think I would have been extra careful not to have slipped up or appear Scummy? So short of constantly protesting and trying to reassure people I am indeed town, I'm not sure what else I can do to change your minds.

I could reveal my role, but this would prove nothing, especially if you think I am Scum. Plus revealing my role could end up getting me night killed (though maybe not, I'm not sure what kind of priority I would be to be night killed), so either way it could end with me dead. I guess the night kill option would be the better choice, as at least then I wasn't lynched by the Town, and Town could use that lynch on a Scum player, not another a Town player.

However, if you decide that I am the one to be lynched, and there is nothing I can do to change your minds, then perhaps I can at least provide some use to the other Town players. After all, it's not about the individual winning, it's about the Town winning, and if me being lynched could help, then maybe it would be worth it.

Here is what I had in mind. I am Town, I am 100% genuine about that. If I am to be lynched, perhaps we can at least test the flip theory while were at it. I could share my role, and then if I am lynched, though I hope I won't be, and you get a flip from me (which would confirm I was telling the truth about my role), the rest of the Town would know that the chances are it is the Town and neutral players who get flipped, meaning Twilight could have been Scum. If I am lynched and there is no flip, this could add evidence that whoever voted last, who struck the killer blow, would determine if a person is flipped or not. Or, if you still didn't trust me you could put it down to me being Scum, only to be proven wrong once the game was over and all the roles revealed and you see I am in fact a loyal citizen of the Town.

Please note that I am not asking to be lynched, nor do I want to be lynched, I am just offering Town an option that could benefit us if they do feel lynching me is the best choice.

The only thing I can say about this, is that I thought exactly the same thing last game, that I would be so careful not to say or do anything to incriminate myself. But it was a hell of a lot more difficult than I'd thought and it didn't end well. I can see how you've been posting being something similar.

Of course, we could be wrong and you could be town. But right now, with the information we have available (and Lift currently being Town due to CSPVG's read) you are the most likely candidate for lynch.

One way or another, we should certainly learn something, but what that is remains to be seen.

Or not getting a flip on a lynch could also be evidence that town kills don't get flipped. Which would clear Robb. But that's all speculations, we still have too many unknown variables.

But your statement, that you would have played differently if you were scum is exaclty what scum would say too. Everything you say will be lost in WIFOM. The question is, have you been trying to help town or not? At the moment I don't have the impression that you were very helpful. Perhaps everybody has overlooked something and you can point out some posts where you were actively scum hunting? If yes, please do so. If no, ... well, then the assumption that you are over-cautious scum looks quite reasonable.

True, I have not been that good at Scum hunting, I have spend much of my time just observing. I have not known really what to go on, just as many other have not known. This game seems to have a few of the players unsure of things, which has been quite fun to watch as they protest at how the game is going. If your own Scum hunting was any good in this kind game (this current game, not Mafia games in general), then you would have more people to go on, better evidence or theories for who is and is not Scum. Instead the game has many people stumped, not sure who to believe, and so instead you grasp at straws and pick someone based on minor errors, nothing big or substantial, just little things. You have no real idea if I am scum or not, but because you have been unable to find anything better with your own Scum hunting, you are just going with the easiest target. One that will only hurt Town, but then perhaps that is the point, it seems strange that all of a sudden several players suddenly change their votes and decide to vote on me, all at the same time, with very little encouragement need other than she has made a few mistakes. No new evidence or reason given, but this was all that was needed for several people to join the wagon and vote for me.

This is actually what made me consider you scummy (you were the counterpart I mentioned earlier to CSVPG - in my mind - rope a doping us on our first lynch vote). You DID appear to be playing extremely carefully. I'm sorry if this analogy is lost on some, but reading your answers was like listening to an athlete's post game interview:

Reporter 1: What weakness were you able to exploit?
Player: Yeah, we had a great game plan and we executed it well...

Reporter 2: How did you prepare for this week?
Player: Yeah, well coach had a great game plan and it was well executed.

Reporter 3: It looked like you tweaked your knee in the second half, and then you didn't play much after that. Any injury updates?
Player: That was one well executed game, and our plan going into it was a great one.

*silence*

Your soft claim here is almost enough to get me to switch my vote. I'll watch this play out for a bit though.

True. But what other choices do we have? And 'fun to watch' is not the way to play this game. Yes, my own scum hunting may miss the mark (adalia seems to think so), but at least I shared my opinion and the reasons for my thoughts. Sure, everything one writes can be attacked and will be. So either you are over-cautious scum or you are a townie who is overly concerned about writing 'nothing wrong' and therefore writes nothing substantial. I'm not sure yet which is the case. But I am seeing you more leaning scum, because the 'just watching' attitude is not a very towney thing to do.

That's actually the reason why I didn't change my vote yet. The train started quite quickly, considering that half of us was hardly here over the holidays and that we don't have a deadline yet.

I still suspect CSPVG and Robb for their ill-timed claims. But others, who I consider townish, are unwilling to lynch them (yet), so if we don't get any new development our best bet as town will be to lynch someone who at least looks slightly scummy as soon as the deadline draws near - and at the moment that is you. Sure, it's a gamble that may hurt town, but not as much as doing nothing would hurt.
HSL has been all over this forum today, but not in this thread.

Hopefully some stragglers will come back in soon.
Gizmo is trying to eat!! and I think we are out of the touch and go phase. I am going to read over the thread tonight and catch up. I will try to post tonight if not the morning.
