tinyE: This place doesn't need me anymore. Threads like this are way funnier than I could ever be. :P

Now I want to join Steam just so I can go into their forum and start a counter thread, "Steam is only a DRM site now?"
Ask where you can find the download link for the games.

I'm not going to pick a fight with them. :P

I've said over and over I'm not a Steam hater, I just think GOG has waaay more to offer me (and the folks in the forum are the best friends anyone could have), that being said I don't hang around Steam and pester them about why they aren't more like GOG and I'm puzzled why people come in here and do it. YES there is confusion at first, people have questions, and I'm fine with that, but once they find out there is a difference they linger here and moan about it. :P Hey man, if you prefer Steam go to it and God Bless; I'll stay here, we'll stay out of each others way, and the world will be rich with peace and harmony! :D

phaolo: Hihi, the reactions of people who only use Steam are so funny.

You can install games on pc without Steam's client? Really? :O
It's a new technology, still in early-Alpha. They're having difficulty with the whole "install it without an active internet connection" thing.

it's always said that dogs are peoples best friends, are you saying the folk in this forum are dogs!?

Dimokritos: Can't download the platform like steam etc?

cyboff: not yet... client similar to steam is in development: http://www.gog.com/galaxy
This is not a good thing.

KneeTheCap: To be honest, for new users it might be a bit difficult to actually find out that there is a downloader. Now a new user buys/redeems a game and goes to his/her account to download the said game. There the first thing s/he sees is the browser download and that might tick people off. I know I really hated browser download back in the days.

I'm sure the galaxy client remedies this.
I'm pretty sure I found its existance without difficulty. Can't remember how, but I did.

Then again, I'm awesome, and it would seem OP is not.

In all fairness you did shit on my floor last night.

Granted, I dared you to, but you didn't have to take me up on it!

it depends how many games (mainly newer) you own ;) I really want some automatic downloader of all those patches...
Now that I've used Galaxy for a bit, I think I prefer just using the downloader.

It's super convenient and much faster than Galaxy is. Plus it actually lets me back up my games- my biggest fear of Galaxy now is that I won't be able to just get the Exe's anymore.
I used to have this client downloaded. Did a system restore, lost it and forgot about it. When i came back to activate The Witcher 3 i though i was going to download the client as well so it was strange to me that there wasn't a download option on GOG apart from the downloader. End of story.

I'm only sorry I used the curtains to wipe afterwards, that was just unnecessary

GOG has said that getting the installers will be possible as they have always been, but who knows, when 90% of the userbase use the one-click-download-and-install and only the old guard bothers to download the installers (and even then, in many cases just for backup and even they primarily use the simple way to actually install the games), maybe they'll give that up too.

Fever_Discordia: Seriously though...

I don't know if the closed alpha for Galaxy is still giving out invites but the link is here:
http://www.gog.com/galaxy/alpha

Hopefully the open beta will start soon though...

paladin181: Eh. Don't rush them. You see how the website and library are right now. Let them get it good and screwed up for reals before they actually let the public touch it. Although, Galaxy client feels mostly harmless, it's not broken anything seriously on my PC yet.
Got to remember software programmers are usually not the same as your web developers. Galaxy has restored my faith in the GOG programmers, their web team though is a little scary honestly. Galaxy is surprising good for an alpha.

If your in the beta for Galaxy, it should be under your library. It has improved a lot since it was first let out to the beta testers. For the recent updates you have to grab it again from the site anyway.

+1
Everything else is a waste of programmers time.
"Evolution" doesn't mean improvement, especially from customer point of view.
