Can't download the platform like steam etc?

it has always been "just"a site
you download your games and thats it
no client
no drm
no nothing

you can back up your games any way you please and play them any time you please

gog galaxy a client similar to steam is coming
but it is NOT manadory you dont need it to play your games
its currently in alpha testing so dont expect much from it

There is the GOG downloader so you don't have to download games through your browser and you can pause and resume a download. Is that what you meant?

But everything is DRM Free there, though whether the merchandize is good for your health is another matter. ;)

It's that thing you jump to in order to grab coins so you can get to the next level.
