Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

TomaszGOG: Indeed for the past few days we've had problems with achievements. The problem was in our authorization and you had to re-login to Galaxy for it to work. That's why actually it worked for some people.

Long story short, it's fixed now.
Which I guess explains why I also couldn't also log into an online game? Glad you guys fixed it and I get it's the weekend... but this stuff tends to happen on weekends and were all left with it being broken for days because nobody is around to fix it. If this was caused by the last update, you guys should really consider pushing Thursday/Friday updates to Monday until you can support Galaxy 7 days a week.

---

Again sorry for the previous rant but something needs to change... especially the open communication with beta testers.

EDIT: Also just checked my email, very glad to see something is at least coming along nicely for Galaxy... ;)

skeletonbow: More RAM is always more useful than less RAM.
Well, yeah, but it might not be that necessary if you're not reckless with your app management. ;P

I rarely have more than three or four programs running at once, so I've never felt the need to have more RAM. I'd say that a modern computer should have minimum 8 GB of RAM, 4 GB is too low for nowadays, after that I consider it a bonus (at least if you're not into video editing and heavy stuff like that).

skeletonbow: Anyone else experience this? The promo is almost over so whatever the glitch is may not be noticed enough for it to get fixed, but in case the website code is reused in future promos or other things, it might be worth investigating.
Yep, it happened to me, using Chrome exclusively. But since I knew the check-ins would maybe not register right away, everyday I reloaded the page several times after a little while to make sure that they were still there. And so far, I'm only missing one . . . that I'll be able to get tomorrow. :P

It also caused a graphical bug where a badge icon would disappear after a "second" check-in. Weird stuff.

I consider it a matter of great convenience for an affordable cost, not being reckless. In the perfect world we don't have to start up our applications then exit them the second we are going to use something else. If an app is a big resource hog and some other application will have degraded performance/user experience as a result of leaving it running, then it makes a lot of sense to shut down such applications of course, and when I've used machines in the past that had resource constraints I've shut down as many programs as possible out of necessity even if it was extremely inconvenient restarting things back up when I needed them again. If you have to, then you have to of course.

But for me, spending a small amount of money relatively speaking and ending up with a significant amount of CPU processing power and RAM has allowed me to use the computer in a more casual manner where I can focus on productivity, entertainment, finance or other things from moment to moment switch between applications/tasks freely without having to worry about computer resource constraints. When you have to shut down an application then start it back up later and get back to where you were, reloading files and figuring out what you were doing there is a context switching overhead to that which you pay in terms of lost time and productivity. That may or may not be acceptable to the individual of course. I greatly prefer to start my computer up and leave it running forever, never shutting down or rebooting, or shutting down applications I'm using even if what I'm doing at a given moment shifts around from task to task. I find that it's so much more convenient and pleasant to use. My workflow habits have changed quite a bit since using my previous resource-starved computer and I find myself more productive now as a result, but it also positively impacts gaming and other computing tasks.

Ok, so the GOG XP page bugs are happening to others too and not just me. I didn't mention it previously but I too saw a badge disappear and later come back, the one on the left side middle (forget what it is called). It would seem there is some kind of race condition going on on the site's code. :)
GOG Devs: Thank you for implementing a right-click context sensitive menu on the installed game library items. I have been intuitively right clicking on them for a long time to get a quick menu of tasks to perform out of muscle memory of using Steam and other applications as well and really hoped you guys would add something similar in Galaxy. I just right clicked a minute ago intuitively and then it dawned on me that the menu that popped up was not there before, so thanks a lot for adding this nice little UI improvement to Galaxy! :)
Hello everyone,

Minor gripe, but does the new settings menu look like it's in a windows xp style to anyone else?
Update on achievements not working:

GOG apparently has found and fixed a bug on their servers with respect to achievements being broken. Several Mantis bug reports were updated to reflect this however they state that whether existing achievements that were unlocked get registered with Galaxy properly now will depend on the game. Here are my results so far...

I had unlocked 15 of them in Witcher Adventure Game but Galaxy only showed 10. After restarting Galaxy just now, I fired up the game and went and viewed the achievements screen in-game, it shows 15. I exited the game and seconds later Galaxy fired off several achievements bringing the total count registered with Galaxy servers to 13. Odd. I restarted the game again, then exited it again and one more achievement was logged to Galaxy. I restarted again and nothing this time. So it now has registered 14 our of 15 achievements.

Still buggy. What is responsible for the bugs is up for grabs, but they still don't work properly in the end although it is nice to know that a critical bug was fixed on the server side of things so hopefully people will experience less issues like this in the future now.

Good job finding and fixing the issue guys!

I actually do also leave my computer running for as long as possible—hail, setting that disables Windows auto-reboot!—because it takes "too long" to start and get running. But interestingly enough, I don't do the same with applications; as soon as I'm done with them, I close them (the exception being Chrome, it also takes "too long" to start and it doesn't save open tabs).

The more I think about it, the less I think "reckless" was the word I was going for . . . maybe "messy" would have suited the situation better? I would much rather have a clear and tidy desk than a desk strewn with lots of papers (though I know there can be organised messiness, when something looks messy and intimidating but only because there are a lot of things present), and I feel the same when it comes to computers. It may be a lot quicker and a lot more productive to leave applications open, but I would feel confused and surmounted! I'm not really a multi-tasking kind of person. :P

Yeah, I disable Windows auto-reboot also, and wish there was a way to also disable the reboot nag screen that pops up every 4 hours if you keep postponing it. Not sure if there is a way to say "Yes, I know rebooting for security updates is important, but I have crucially important shit going on right now that I can't do that so stop nagging me like an old lady about rebooting already.", but I wish there was. :)

If I'm done with an application then yeah, I close it generally. But I use many applications both for work, hobbies, and entertainment which are ongoing, such as transcribing music or writing my own - I often have 5-10 projects open simultaneously for example, and other active projects. If I complete a project and am not using the software then I'll close it, but if I'm actively working on some kind of project then I like to leave the applications open all the time even if I'm not using them at this moment. Some of them it's no big deal to close then reopen when you use them again, but others you have to open the program then spend time reopening all of your files or whatever to get back to where you were. If a program completely and totally saves the entire state of the project, the views, open windows, panes, etc. and has full blown session management then it isn't a big deal to close them to declutter the taskbar and reopen them later, but a lot of programs just don't do that unfortunately.

I consider the web browsers a special case as I can never think of a good reason why my web browser shouldn't be running 48 hours per day. It's about as close as an application can get to being a mandatory part of the OS that you theoretically can or do use all day every day. The gateway to the universe as it were. :)

Sometimes open programs act as good reminders of incomplete work or tasks too.

Yeah, sometimes it can be a little messy for sure. I have to admit that my web browsers do get messy. I've had up to 1000 open web pages, many of which make sense and many of which are lost in the clutter of open tabs, but I've managed to change workflow to keep it to a more manageable 200-500. :)

I'd have to say that it is a combination of productive workflow plus counterproductive messiness overall. :)
Will GOG galaxy support VR in the (near) future? I have two games on GOG for my Vive so far, and I guess the marked will grow quickly. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by whether Galaxy would support VR exactly, could you clarify what you mean by that? I'm not really sure what VR support for a gaming client even means. If you mean will GOG sell video games that support VR then I imagine the answer to that is something like "yes, why wouldn't they, they're just games", but I'm really not understanding the link to Galaxy with VR. Does Steam's gaming client support VR, and if so what does that actually mean? I use Steam myself of course but I'm not really understanding what VR has to do with the gaming client itself.
Hey GOG: Don't think I didn't notice the improvements made to GOG Chat lately (on the website anyway, not yet on Galaxy). Nice to see improvements coming along silently like this. :)

Improvements to GOG chat?
More and more games with achievements on GOG Galaxy are just nice :-)

omega64: Improvements to GOG chat?
Yup, some minor additions. You can now configure the room sort, and whether you want to see online-only friends or not, or only unread messages. Some incremental improvements showing up slowly to chat although not yet in Galaxy that I noticed. That will probably come soon too though.

Are you sure you don't just have Adalia Fundamentals installed? xD
