dedoporno: I doubt that was RW because someone rummaged my own luggage and stole some flavor stuff. That looks slightly more like a role cop or a similar investigation to me.
And what was RW's role?
Role cop. My point was that there were two pack searches, doubtful the same person did both. Flavor stuff was taken from my pack which (to me) sounds more like a role cop investigation.
Not it!

Reasonable (to me) conclusions about the game:
-This is not a pure vanilla game, nor is it role madness.
-There is one scum team (one NK was made)
Why would there have been two searches though? They seem similar in nature, but Quad did mention anything about items being taken but had troll droppings on his pack instead. Did anyone has have their packs searched or things taken?

We role fishing now?

That's almost certain, what concerns me more is how much of everything about this game is actually relevant and how much is just Yog f*cking with us for his own amusement.

No, I find it odd that two people had their packs searched and wondered if anyone else did. Do you not think we should discuss any actions that might have happened to someone in the night?

I'm not an expert on how/when roles should be discussed, so here's my answer to your question:
It depends on how much information we're now willing to give out to scum about roles. Every non-scum that reveals they had their pack searched tells scum two things: 1) A likely minimum number of investigate roles, and 2) At least one person who isn't one of those roles (since a player is highly unlikely to investigate himself).

Assuming Quad and Dedo are telling the truth, then we've got at least one more investigate role alive; the other search could have been RW.

And if everyone else goes "No, I didn't have my pack searched", that ALSO tells scum something: How many more investigative roles town has floating around.

Talking about the searches that have been revealed is one thing. Asking if anyone else got searched seems a little like fishing to me.

Comment 1) Role cops come in all flavors, both town and scum.
Comment 2) A role cop can be role copped just fine.
Comment 3) Saying "There is a cop in play" is quite different from "I am the cop".

Whether knowing what roles are out there is more helpful to town or scum remains debatable, and it does depend on said roles.

Don't be so sure of that. There could be another scum faction / SK / whatever, who either decided not to use their NK or who was foiled in some way. This possibility should be obvious, so why were you so quick to point out, that there is only one scum team? Are you perhaps yourself (part of) a second scum faction, whose existence you want to hide?

But I do agree on not revealing if someone elses packs were searched. That tells scum more than it does town. Although there is a good possibility for two role cops, so that the two searched packs make sense. Role cop is more often a scum role, since it helps them more. RW was town role cop, so a scum role cop might still be floating around.

Now for some flavour observations: our wizard said this time, that ONE of us did the kill. Not two (or five) of us like in Night 0. Also that kill was done with a boulder, which takes some strength. So if the attributes mean anything, our killer will have a high STR.

Is there perhaps a troll among us? Shouldn't we see something like that? Why did we only notice on his death, that Doradon was a dwarf? Wasn't he just as short before dying?

Sorry, got carried away. But seriously: if we do have someone who can read stats, look out for someone with a high STR.

Again I will ask you, do you not want to discuss night actions that might have happened to someone for a reason? The only way town is going to win this is if we talk to each other. The whole reason Day 1 sucks is because town has no information to go on. Now that town has information to go on you are wanting to stop any discussion on it? Your narrow minded thinking makes me shake my head.

Reply 1) I thought my answer accounted for this.
Reply 2) I thought I specifically accounted for this possibility.
Reply 3) I agree, which is why I didn't say that revealing who got searched will auto-find the cop. It is just an indicator of if/whether more are out there.

As stated: I'm not an expert. I've certainly been wrong before, and almost as certainly will be wrong again.

And now a question for you: What is your personal opinion on asking about who else may have been searched?

I didn't say I was sure of that, I said it seems like a reasonable conclusion to me. As I understand it, the norm is one scum team made up of about 25% of the players. If there are two scum teams in this game, then each team is going to be small, probably 2 players. Alternatively, there could be a mafia team and SK (probably 2/3 and 1).

Sure, a tiny scum faction (I'm including SK in this) might skip the kill to remain undetected. Sure, a kill might have been blocked. However, until we have some evidence of some other case, the most reasonable conclusion (to me) seems to be one scum team. Did you catch something I missed to indicate more than one scum team?

I offered my conclusions because I'm trying to help. I have no input on RW as NK, I don't plan to report if anything happened to me at night yet, and I certainly don't plan to reveal if I had a night action. If you don't want me to help, just say so. I'll almost certainly ignore such a request, but at least I'll know you don't want me to help further. :P Maybe I can go help Trent; I certainly did such a good job of that yesterday.

I bolded the answer to your question. I'm fine talking about the searches themselves, and how/why Dedo and Quad got searched. I've already explained why I'm not so fine with asking if anyone else got searched.

So, why Dedo and why Quad? Quad was quiet on Day 1, so that might have been why he got searched. Not sure about Dedo. Is there any reason to assume either of them are lying about being searched?

Assuming RW did one of the searches, is there a different investigative role that has a different sort of search flavor (don't answer this)?
avatar
Bookwyrm627: Reply 1) I thought my answer accounted for this.
So it is quite possible that scum already know who they targeted, and they only learn that RW targeted the other one of the two so far. If there are more than 2 role copes, then they may learn a bit more.

avatar
Bookwyrm627: Reply 2) I thought I specifically accounted for this possibility.
Did it? I thought you insinuated that neither Dedo nor Quadr could be role cops, because they had their packs searched. How did you end up with that idea?

avatar
Bookwyrm627: Reply 3) I agree, which is why I didn't say that revealing who got searched will auto-find the cop. It is just an indicator of if/whether more are out there.
Depends on mechanics as well. Not to mention that if there is a scum role cop out there, I don't think he would be targeting his team mates. So the "I had my pack searched" could be an added point of information. If we do have two town role cops though, that point is moot.

avatar
Bookwyrm627: And now a question for you: What is your personal opinion on asking about who else may have been searched?
I would rephrase trent's question. Anyone else had anything interesting happen to him? Having a pack searched is indication that there's an investigative role out there, which should be helpful later on when establishing night action timelines. Having someone being redirected would also be helpful.
Like always though, before revealing something, do consider whether it would help town more than scum.
