I'd want to know where GOG does take this rate?

I'm from Russia, and our national currency was under market speculators' attack recently, but now it's going up, when the panic is over. Basing on our Russian currency boards, dollar/rouble now is 1/53. But GOG rouble prices are much higher.

I've been curious about that too given the fluctuations in the Australian vs US dollar.

Interesting to hear a Russian perspective on the economic stuff going on there right now. Australian media is saying that it is due to oil prices plummeting, which is ironic given the way oil prices are determined. "Market speculators' attack" fits in more with what I learned doing economics at university, and that was that at least 90% of currency transactions are based on speculation rather than tethering them to a meaningful value.

Edit: I think I found their source! :P GOG Gobabis Airport currency exchange in Namibia lol

From either WebMoney or Yandex. You're always free to put your faith in your bank and pay in dollars or use paypal conversion, the currency switcher is in the bottom-right corner.

You can always select USD as your currency. That way the exchange rate's impact is less.

It's not market speculators. It's your own country's stupidity. Stop invading other country's territory.

Forbes discusses the various factors of the crash, with speculation being one of them. "Selling the ruble has become endemic. The currency has fallen into a self-fulfilling prophecy of doom." Take a look at economic history, especially the Great Depression if you wish to see the effects of speculation on currency values.

China is stepping in to help the Russian economy, for a price of course.

zeroxxx I can understand your comment to some extent but do you take responsibility for "your own country's stupidity"? The occupation of East Timor springs to mind when thinking about such matters. If I were to take responsibility for that which I have no control over (both major parties in Australia are atrocious and serve no-one but their puppet masters), then I would probably kill myself if I felt responsible for the actions of the Australian government.

Most of us are in a similar situation - we have no power when it comes to change whilst we continue to be played off against each other due to race, religion, gender, culture, wealth etc.

Haha it is okay, I am no longer working for a newspaper, the government or am associated with the press in any manner anymore. That means I should be safe from prosecution...for now!

You mean you can actually say things now, won't be too long before they put muzzles on us..(or has it happened already)?
I'm sure the new King will set up something...What happened to our Great Country?

gunsynd: What happened to our Great Country?
Me seems, this is the question that many of us can ask ourselves and our rulers.

There are many sober-thinking American politicians and journalists that say: "America went too far stirring things in Ukraine. We should respect Russia's sphere of interest". Imagine that Russia sent its advisors into Mexica and Texas to "teach them how to live in freedom and democracy". Someone should stop to think that he is the last and absolute source of True Vision How Things Must Be. And this one is not Russia. Just let us be in way we like to. And no one will teach you how to live in your own country.

Trouble is asking so called (rulers, kings, heads of government)what happened will be treated with contempt and dismissed as (ahh next question please)...
