wizardtypething: No mention of DoW2?

Hm.

fartheststar: I think it was a "no comment" from the publishers. I put it on my "play sooner" list for my backlog just in case.
Thinking about it, being published by THQ might put that one in limbo for some time...

Didn't Sega buy that up?
Dang still no comment about DOW2 and CR
Still waiting for Bethesda to remove GFWL from the Fo3 retail editions....I have a few friends that bought the normal edition and grabbed the DLC's from GFWL marketplace....
Good to see From Software is seeking option to remove GFWL from Dark Souls. Read something about them not planning to remove it and concerned about it quite a bit.
It's sad to see 'no comment' on Dirt 2, Fuel and both Operation Flashpoint games. I bought those games recently, not knowing they had GFWL and haven't played them yet, they're still on the backlog (except for 1 or 2 laps on Dirt 2), but I hope the money for them won't have gone down the drain and I can install and play them using the offline profile option and they don't need online GFWL activation. I did download the offline GFWL installers that were linked in a previous topic here.

You're quite right.

Of course it'll be Steamworks, but I'm just curious if they'll be getting to it any time soon.

spoderman: Actually some of this is new news, it wasn't official that Dark Souls or Ace Combat would have GFWL stripped until today.
Dark Souls and Ace Combat are finally having GFWL removed? :D

I was worried that the PC version of Dark Souls was heading for a bad end, this is great news. ^_^

Does anyone have a link(s) they can post to the company's announcement of this?

Now if only they'd removed GFWL from Lost Planet. T_T

GFWL has given me nothing but trouble since it was first rolled out. I'm glad to see it go. Let's just hope they don't replace it with something even less functional and more disruptive. :/

I know some people liked GFWL and had it working without any problems, I was not one of those people... -_-

But did they really? I not read anywhere that SEGA bought the license to DOW. Just Relic who made the series.

THQ had a deal with Games Workshop to make Warhammer games. Wouldn't SEGA have to make a new deal with Games Workshop so Relic could make more DOW games or anything Warhammer?

I *think* that something like this was confirmed at some point, but I have no faith in my remembering correctly.

Possibly GW's deal with the Creative Assembly indicates that SEGA would be involved with GW at some point, seeing as CA games haven't gone through any other publisher, far as I'm aware.

there are mods that remove GFWL already
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/1086/?
but this can help your friends

For players that purchased Fallout 3 downloadable via disc (Fallout 3 Downloadable Content Collections or Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition) or by downloading them via the Games for Windows LIVE client, the following steps will assist you in accessing the content without usings Games for Windows LIVE.

1. Set your Windows search function so that you can view “hidden folders.”
2. Select and copy all Fallout 3 DLC files. The files will be located within your Windows user profile:
1. USERPROFILE\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Xlive\DLC (Windows XP)
2. %USERPROFILE\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC (Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8
3. Copy these files into the Fallout 3 Data folder
4. When using the Fallout launcher, click on "Data Files" and check the box next to the add-on names before running the game.

So I'm thinking of trying out this newfangled game called Dark Souls all the kids seem to love. Without reading through this whole thread can someone tell me, do this mean GFWL will be removed from Dark Souls?

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (Exploring options, but no set plans yet.)
I saw some pissed off comments somewhere (might of been RPG I can't remember) that Nordic has the maybe developing own DRM going because it isn't Steam
I feel its more annoying that none seem to be going DRM free though
