A true blast from the past! In 1995, Disney Software and Buena Vista Interactive teamed up to bring Gargoyles for the Sega Genesis. This platformer was based on Disney's animated TV series with the same title, which was known for its dark and mature themes, complex characters, and engaging storytelling. The game quickly became an absolute gem thanks to its faithfulness to the source material and fun-packed gameplay.

Now, 28 years later, we’re gonna relieve those precious memories – Gargoyles Remastered is now available to pre-order on GOG.

It is an artfully crafted revival of the ‘90s classic 16-bit side-scrolling platform adventure. Relive the epic journey of Goliath and the Gargoyles featuring enhanced visuals, animations, and SFX, all inspired by the acclaimed animated series. The world of Gargoyles comes to life with a level of detail that will thrill fans of the animated series and retro gaming enthusiasts alike. Experience classic gameplay that stays authentic to its predecessor while including new features such as achievements, gameplay rewind, and more!

Use stone-crushing strength, scale stone towers and buildings with razor-sharp claws, and glide through the air as you master mid-air attacks and hand-to-hand combat in non-stop action to save the world from destruction.

Seamlessly toggle in real-time between graphics inspired by the animated series and classic 16-bit mode true to the original game.

Relive the story of Goliath and the Gargoyles’ battle against the evil Eye of Odin with new animations and sound effects inspired by the Gargoyles animated series.

Experience the original soundtrack, remastered and optimized for a more immersive adventure.

All of that will soon be possible with Gargoyles Remastered – pre-order now!

Orakel: Windows only.... that's a problem.
Well, if we like it or not, Microsoft's Windows is used on around 85-90% of the actual running personal computers. MacOS is around 9-10% with it's daily user base, and Linux etc. below in the statistical 1%.

It is hard to make any statistical statement, but things have changed recently:

I remember the Sega Genesis version, but was very hard, never managed to finish even the first phase...
Awesome to see this game coming here, I loved the show.

Thanks for the new statistics/data. Very interesting.

If i remember right phase 1 was only 2 or 3 levels, where you fight the viking at the end. Then it transitions to modern day, and you end up fighting some guy at the end for the eye of odin. The details i'd read are fairly vague and included basically no plot.

Like many older titles, extending playtime by making it incredibly hard, where i'm sure the whole thing could be beat in 20-30 minutes.

Thanks for the information on the minimum requirements on Steam.

eric5h5: Why you need a dedicated GPU for a 2D sprite game, however, is beyond me.
This is another very good question.
=)
A hug!

P-E-S: Interesting. Didn't even know there was a game for the show.
I thought they meant it was a remaster of the series and damn, i was hyped, but i might get it just cause its gargoyles, never played the original, but i loved the tv show, that was awesome.
Seems like a fun game, I should check this out

UCrest: The way things are with Disney these days, I wouldn't be surprised if they release a Gummi Bears game (just kidding).
With the same polish I'd buy it.

neumi5694: Poor guy had to endure hours of hours of Sega Genesis "audio" ... Hearing his composition on a torture device like this must have hurt.
What's wrong with MD audio? Half of the time it sounded better than SNES.

From Star Trek Generations:

Picard: Y'know someone once said to me that time is like a predator hunting us all our lives but I'd like to think of time as a companion who goes along with us on a journey and reminds us to cherish each moment because it may never come again...after all Number One we're only human.

Riker: Speak for yourself sir, I plan to live forever.

It's complete and utter crap. I went through some videos to see what MD games I could get for my EverSD, and I had to abort after a while. They all sounded completely terrible and it made my head hurt after a while.

Yes, there was bad music on the SNES as well, but the MD just was not able to produce good music. The MD had good sides, it had a good graphic processor, but it's sound module was a disgrace.

You should check out Jim Power on the SNES. It's still not as good as the Amiga version, but it shows what could be done on a SNES if the musician put some effort into it.

I own the Mega/Super/1/2/3 Turrican Soundtracks of all Amiga, SNES and MD. While the MD tracks most of the time use exactly the same composition as the other versions, they just sound like the cheapest Bontempi keyboard was used for them. I don't like the SNES sound much either, but the MD version ist just crap compared to the Amiga version.

MD had good sound depending on how it was used. Not saying all the music was perfect but certainly the audio was clearer that the dreadful sound quality on SNES. Would be interested to know what game soundtracks you scanned past.

I still have to find good music on the MD. Do you have some examples?

'clear' does not mean 'good'. The synthesizer was just crap in every game I heared so far. Clear crap is still crap.

And do listen at least to Jim Powers title track

Compare it to the MD version ...

And now Amiga:

The good abouit the sound module of the MD was that it had 12 channels (I think), it was less restrictive. While the Amiga only had 4 PCM channels, Hülsbeck and Hippel managed to get 7 instruments at the same time out of it at low costs (mostly thanks to Atari guru Hippel).

But enough off topic from my side :)
Would be cool if you could name some games with good music tho.
