Any game you buy will include all the languages that are listed on that title's page, no matter where you are. You just have to download the French installer from your library.

Hello. All languages mentioned in the game's page (Deutsch, English, français, polski, русский ) are available to you, regardless of your territory.

It's possible for the original game. I just checked, and in my game page, I can choose either german or french from a dropdown menu.
You can download the English, French, German, Polish, and Russian version regardless of where you bought it.

On the Baldur's Gate gamecard, French is listed under "audio & text". Languages that are only featured as subtitles or the like would be listed as "text only".
be prepared to suffer from Imoen's voice, though :p

still have flashbacks from "Hé, c'est moi, Imoen". Argh.
I have send the gog team the question directly. Should have done it earlier but somehow
I didn't think of it -_- ...

Thanks guys (gals?) ;)

ps I will post their answer when I get it here.

I can't imagine it being any worse than the German dub, where every single voice sucked.

Now I need to hear how she sounds in French. I never really tired of her English version "Heya, it's me, Imoen", despite hearing it dozens of times and just about everyone else expressing extreme irritation over her.

You... may want to use other games to help you with french pronunciation. Some of the voices in Baldur's Gate I/II are notoriously bad (I'm looking at you, Nalia Screeching-nails-on-a-blackboard). ;)
EDIT: :/

I'm open for suggestions. I have an ancient XP machine, though.

Hmm... I play most of my games in english, so this is a tough question. If you're looking for a game with lots of dialogue, good voices and accents that are not exagerated, here are some off the hat suggestions:

Dracula 3 -> bugs prevent me from playing through it, but voices are rather good (it even features Al Pacino's french dubber)

Runaway (I've played them in English, but the French translation and VO enjoy a good reputation)

Gothic 3 (good voices, but may be too intensive on your pc)

Fahrenheit (decent voices, ***** game)

Still Life (good VO)

The Witcher (not on par with the English and Polish versions, but decent voices, but may be too intensive on your pc)

Syberia (my fingers hurt from writing this, but maybe this piece of crap could partially be redeemed by making itself useful)

Broken sword games may be relevant, too.

Noooooooooooooooooooo

Use another game ! Baldur's gate has the most irritating french voices of any french version of any videogame ever !

You'd only learn how to scream "shut the fuck up" at your screen in french.

____________

Also, in my experience, adventurw games are the best for learning languages. Syberia is a sweet game, but maybe its interface is too simple. I'd suggest very word-based point-and-clicks, with displayed text and word actions. Stuff similar to old sierra or lucasarts games...
