dedoporno: Awesome!

By the way all of this made me look into my own list leftover stuff. I have given away most of it but I have one thing left on GOG that is still pending and it's an awesome experience - Lionheart: Legacy of the crusader. I loved that game so much back in the day and even now I have a vivid memories of some particular moment and it's brilliant soundtrack. If one of you, fine gentlemen, hasn't played that and enjoys a good old-school RPG let me know.

Bookwyrm627: Is that Old Black Isle? That's something I might actually play at some point; I enjoyed BG 1 and 2 and Icewind Dale. Family life makes playing sessions uncertain though, so first dibs goes to anyone else who might be interested.

=====

I've checked my keys, and I have a Master of Magic key. It's a 4X I've enjoyed on and off for a great many years. It should net the new owner both the original release and the Community Patch version, but Caster of Magic is a separate DLC/version.

I also have a Neverwinter Nights Diamond key in case anyone doesn't already have one of the freebies, but Vitek's was offered first.

Yes, it is. It's not as heavy as BG but the atmosphere and world-building are magnificent. It finishes rather disappointingly and it leaves a feeling they just ran out of time/money in the end and had to wrap it up quickly. It's still a really good game and the first couple of acts alone make it worth it. Soundtrack is by Inon Zur. If you know the name there is no reason to say more. If you don't - shame on you.

Hey, I washed them! It's not my fault the stench persists.

my name is supyreor catte: Hehe, rather shamefully I already have Lionheart and I don't think I've ever even installed it. One of those impulse buys that seems silly in retrospect since I don't play many RPGs.
Same. I got it as I figured I could go with another isometric RPG and I am yet to even install it. To my defense, it has only been slightly over 10 years since I bought it. It's not that long.

It's starting to feel that way. I was recently reminded of some games I bought there over 10 years ago and there are quite a few I've never played so I'm in the process of checking them out. First in the pile, first out!
i just installed a 2 tb ssd, so i now have room for games...what am i saying; I've used ~3/4 of it without finishing installing all the games i want to play. xD [Game files these days, wowie!] That said, I messed up and somehow no longer have a trackpad or any on-device mouse buttons.

[it's a long story--i bought a new bezel because the original was broken, tried forcing the cable in (inadvertently upside down), broke the trackpad's jack's clip right off, like a dummy I took (and broke) the clip off the original one to try and put it on the new bezel/trackpad, eventually glued the cable on--upside down--to the contacts.... It wouldn't boot at all. So, I figured out what was wrong and we glued it on right side up. Now, it boots, but the trackpad is dead and the mouse buttons attached to the keyboard are also dead. (Startup says, "NO PS/2 MOUSE CONNECTED")
I have a new bezel & cables coming in over the next week or so but I cannot stand not having a trackpad/on-device mouse buttons.]

But, the new (bigger, now-dual-channel) ram and new ssd work well, so that is a relief.

I've worked out what happens! When I have to take my work computer in to work my computer at home is so slow I get out of the habit of doing the internet at all and the next thing you know it's ten years later and I've missed 50 mafia games...
QUICKTOPIC IS SHUTTING DOWN.

Backup all Mafia chats before they are lost forever!

Here's the email that I got from Steve Yost
Dear QuickTopic users (free version):

I'm sorry to break the news to you that QuickTopic will be shutting down this year.

Here's the planned schedule, in reverse:
The final shutdown date will be December 11, 2021.
We'll disallow posting new messages starting on November 27.
Sometime before then, we'll post a message at the top of each QuickTopic page about the upcoming shutdown.

To save your message board contents, you have a few options:
1. In the lower left corner of your message board, tap the Print link. That will take you to a page with some options.
2. For saving the text and other info as a spreadsheet-compatible format, there's an option under the Tools menu to Download CSV (Excel) format.
It's been a wonderful experience building and running QuickTopic all this time. With 21 years since its inception, QuickTopic has been the world's longest continuously running web-based social media platform.

If you have questions or comments, feel free to reply. Best wishes to you!

Regards,
Steve Yost

QUICKTOPIC IS SHUTTING DOWN.

Backup all Mafia chats before they are lost forever!
Sad to hear that. There is a lot of nostalgia connected with that site.
I was thinking it could happen in the future about year ago as I felt it is not used and quiet dated.
I am certainly going to backup some of the chats I have bigger connections to but many I don't have even link to.
Would it be possible to access chats through web.archive later on,m when the site goes down?

If you can point the Wayback Machine at each and every chat, yes. But better do it with all posts in one page, otherwise you'll have to go page by page and that's annoying.

It'd be more efficient to print PDFs or Excel files and then host them on some cloud storage.

Anyway if you want the backup efforts to be all done within this tight deadline, there pretty much has to be a group effort.

Also, after the backup is done (or fails), we still have to contend with the fact of finding a QT alternative that's suitable for Mafia. And this time maybe one that won't go down as easily?

If we are to begin backing up those Mafia quicktopics, I suggest we first collect their links in one place. I'm willing to use Google Sheets and then allow access to contributors.

If you want to help in finding links for Mafia QTs, please reply to this post! Or better yet, just send me your Google email so I will send you an invite right away.

My lazy self is telling me that I am not sure how many of them are worth the hassle. :-)

I suggested doing it over Discord in the past but it wasn't recieved well.
Damn. What are we going to use instead of QT?

The mafia chat actually did happen over Discord once. I'm now the only one left in that Discord server, mostly because it's been moved to QT. I had managed to make it happen with Lift as mod and GH as my mafioso in crime.

But I can tell you that exporting these chats out of Discord will be a pain.

Eh, I suggest we go after the mafia chats. We already list each mafia game that ever happened in the OP threads.
