huan: I wasn't sure if I WANT ultimate edition, the saving wasn't my only motivation :)

I'm still not sure. Now that Matruchus mentions that there is no real story, it's starting to sound like Master of Magic "remake". Not a bad game, but it gets old after few playthroughs. I'll just try base when I get home and see what to do next. I have done my share to support Stardock decision to come here either way.

Matruchus: Yes, the game is supposed to be a remake/tribute to Master of Magic.
If it's a sequel to, tribute to, or bastard child of master of magic, then I'll at least wishlist it. It does look worth a try on ots own. Thanks GOG.

Maighstir: Different editions are treated as completely different products. Yes, it's annoying.

Grargar: Not always the case. For instance, I bought Shadowgate: Special Edition and the catalog indicates that I own Shadowgate, Shadowgate Special Edition and Shadowgate Special Edition Upgrade. It doesn't seem to do so for this game, though.
In that case it's then set up as they all should be, such that the larger edition is really a bundle of the smaller edition and the upgrade (which in turn is a DLC to the smaller edition as far as the store in concerned).

Depending on how the store back-end works it might be quite difficult to change how editions are set up or modify products, but since they apparently can set them up to work "correctly" if they really try, they should - ideally - update all games with different editions.

I gave the base edition couple of hours yesterday. No technical problems, looks pretty decent. If you know Master of Magic, you'll feel right at home - there is only one entirely new mechanics that I noticed so far, combat stamina (imho bad name, because you start at 0 when entering combat and it goes up with each round. Rage would be better name). Rest of the game is more of an incremental improvement over MoM, wrapped in pretty graphics.

Thanks GoG AND Stardock.
