Across the years, Dungeon Siege and Deus Ex series gathered a massive fanbase among the gamers worldwide. Today Dungeon Siege Collection, as well as Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director’s Cut and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided arrive on GOG.COM in all DRM-free glory.

Dungeon Siege Collection (-85%) includes three parts of the cult fantasy RPG series, along with the DLC titled Treasures of the Sun. The Dungeon Siege series was born in 2002 from the Gas Powered Games studio members' passion for the RPG genre. The title captivated gamers around the world with its rich fantasy world, beautiful 3D graphics, and mechanics that were easy to grasp even for the beginners in the RPG domain. It was only a matter of time when the sequel was released in 2005 with the expanded world and a more complex storyline.

Over the years, Dungeon Siege became a cult classic. This led to a movie adaptation of the game featuring Jason Statham and, finally, to the third part of the series. This time it was created by Obsidian Entertainment (veterans of Baldur’s Gate) and published by Square Enix. Released in 2011, Dungeon Siege III introduced gamers to an innovative combat system that made the gameplay even more dynamic and engaging.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution (-85%) is also a good example of revamping a cult series. After Deus Ex (2000) and Deus Ex: Invisible War (2003) made a lot of fans thanks to the cyberpunk setting and RPG elements, the series went into a hiatus for nearly a decade.

Human Revolution lets us revisit the same dystopian universe of the future, albeit its story is set a few decades earlier. The world is divided between the supporters and opponents of human augmentations. The main protagonist, Adam Jensen, is a former SWAT member and the head of security at a tech company. He is being cast into the above-mentioned strife after suffering heavy wounds and being biotechnologically enhanced in order to save his life. During the game, the player can expand the main character’s augmentation further, making him even more lethal.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (-85%) further expanded on adventures of Adam Jensen, merging action elements with RPG decision making, that changed the face of the storyline. One of its highly praised elements was the so-called Breach - an alternative game mode set in the virtual world. On top of that Deus Ex series was even further expanded with the successful comics series.

Now you can revisit the fascinating universes of Dungeon Siege and Deus Ex once more, thanks to the Square Enix Publisher Sale on GOG.COM featuring deals up to 89% off until 4th May 2020, 1 PM UTC.

adamhm: Just a warning to anyone thinking about buying Deus Ex: Mankind Divided right now; it looks like the game's DLC has DRM and requires both Galaxy and an Internet connection to work :/
I did wonder about how GOG would handle that. Human Revolution is excellent (and the last decent "whole" Deus Ex game), but Mankind Divided was shrouded in all kinds of overly-monetized cr*p from "tiered pre-orders" to that "pay-per-play" DLC (ie, you had to rebuy the DLC on every playthrough) to the way it was developed (devs wanted to make a full length game like DX1 & HR but publishers wanted to split it across two titles, hence why it has a much shorter main plot length (15hrs DX:MD vs 25hrs of DX 1 & HR) and feels almost like "Part 1 of 2" with more side-quest filler. Needless to say due to poor sales (partly as a reason for all this stuff), the whole franchise has been shelved and there's no real sign of "Mankind Divided Part 2" making MD look even more awkward.

I'm seriously disappointed with GOG at not figuring out the obvious - Mankind Divided either needs the DLC permanently unlocked to run offline or the game should simply not be here (because as you say, online per-play checks involve DRM).

That's...really bad. I hope it's just a mistake and GOG is going to fix it as quickly as possible, better if some blue appears here to say something at this point, because this is very serious and can set a terrible precedent. These are also well known games, not some little ones that will be forget quickly.

It is not the first time we see partial drm with some games (mainly for MP or co-op) but i'm not sure if this would be the first one that has it's single player DLC's (the main reason to buy the deluxe edition, also) totally blocked when offline. For instance, Battletech also had some dlc's (with skins) that forced you to had a Paradox account and to be connected to their auth servers (constantly) in order to use the content (not the first time, always) but this is much worse, the expansion contents, not some skins.

I will be buying "Revolution", even if they don't add the original version (which i prefer, btw) but i will pass on "Mankind" until everything clears up.

Another wishlist that i hope it will be soon irrelevant for this case:

The user who took to writing the reactionary reviews based solely around the wording in the EULA is probably feeling a justified tingle about now.

Unfortunate that GOG let that Mankind Divided validation check slip by. Hopefully they can fix it some time soon when they can climb out of the pile of support tickets they're buried under and brave the mass of angry internet townfolk beating down the doors of their offices and homes.

Pygmalion_4678: Once you start the game online, it also works offline (I just tried it). That could be the reason why nobody at GOG noticed it.

adamhm: It's still DRM though even if online authentication is only required once... also, what if you run it without Galaxy?
I do not dispute that. It definitely has to be fixed. I just wanted to find an explanation why GOG didn't notice the error. :)

I was wrong anyway, the DLC doesn't work without the GalaxyCommunication.exe. :(

That's a really bad bug that GOG needs to fix. A lot of people that use GOG do not want to use Galaxy at all.

The "optional" Galaxy client... so optional that GOG apparently doesn't bother to test without it

Sent a support ticket. I'll give GoG a little time to figure this out because of everything happening right now. I'll ask for a refund if I have to though.

LiefLayer: Director's Cut is not that bad (it was really bad on release) and they fixed some of the original game problems (like boss battles and the DLC inside the main story that is great for the pacing) so it's not like the original version was free of problems.
I think the fact that Deus Ex HR is drm-free on gog is more important that get the original version not even avaible on steam right now.
Missing Link being inserted into the campaign is horrible for the pacing, not better. It was designed as a separate game experience. You're right that the added boss options are a benefit, but that's literally the only benefit. The graphics, design, pacing, balancing and bugs are all worse in the "director's cut."
At three bucks, the Dungeon Siege pack is an insta-buy for me. Thanks, gOg! Even at $20, that's a whole lot of gameplay time.

One of these days, GOG will define DRM-Free as "Runs with the Galaxy client". :D

I disagree. It was perfect. And I disagree about the bug severity... it's not that much of a mess, it is totally playable.

I can affirm that. I've played two times through the entire game for collecting all Steam Achievements and had no single crash.

But I have to admit, I've found the loss of all my augmentations for the DLC a little bit annoying. I still like the DLC integration, it's far better then the standalone experience in my opinion. However, the original version looked prettier in my eyes. (A matter of taste, I know.)

I know there's a lot about the DRM condition of Mankind Divided in this post right now. I'm sure with the differing reports there are ways to get it to work without online check-in. I for one am glad to have the option to get it here on GOG.

Wow this is really bad news. I was going to buy DE Mankind Divided, but for now wait if this is fixed. I guess and hope this was simply a mistake by GOG. If not this would really destroy my opinion of the DRM-free policy of this store.

It's becoming more and more clear that GOG simply doesn't test their games offline without galaxy.
Thats a fucking shame.
