This actually looks like doom, unlike the sucky Doom3. I just hope the actual levels and gameplay will be like this, because this seems like a skirmish map or just a showcase map for the monsters.
Considering how the world looks and how is everything quite brown and grim, I don't like how glowy are the item drops. They look really out of place. As if they fell out of Borderlands into this, quite different game.

Other than that I liked what I saw.

Also, it is likely that it was, let's say, "enhanched" to look a bit better for E3, as is sometimes done (hello Watchdogs) and even with it, explosions look quite ugly.

Meh.

Enebias: It seems nice, though if that is indeed a level of the campaign I would compare it more to a Serious Sam-like arena shooter than to Doom - which is fine for me, since I love Sam! :)

I really really hate those "glowing monster"-QTE finishers, though. Couldn't they just tie melee to a button and give to it different animations based on the context (example: a simple punch when the enemy is healthy, stripping a limb when it is near death, a kick when it is down and so on)?
In general, it reminded me more of the original Quake than Doom.

I was worried about the finishing moves in this game ever since I first read rumours about them some time ago. Wouldn't be surprising to me if they got the inspiration for them from that obnoxious Brutal Doom mod.

However, the thing I hated the most was that all the weapons looked like shit.

man, you guys are a right bunch of downers.

timppu: Looks ok, but why are you controlling a tank in the game?

Oh right, it was probably played on a gamepad...?
My thoughts exactly.

Matewis: Looks really cool, especially the slowdown when you change weapons, but I hope you can disable that. Might get annoying after a while
Who ever had the idea for that crap, was most likely a faggy gamepad-douche and should be kicked in the nuts.

That's definitely for the benefit of gamepad playing yes

timppu: In the first two Dooms, you could drop from how high you wanted, without any damage!
You could also shoot straight ahead and hit someone several feet above you.
The 8 min video, in particular, gave me a strong feeling that I was looking at a "Brutal Doom 3" mod. Having seen more screens and the official trailer later, I did like the designs, much closer to the spirit of the original game than the ones in Doom 3, but I believe that repeating Mars is a missed opportunity. A little bit of murdering on Earth wouldn't do anyone harm. Anyway, it will be probably brutally fun. I just wish I had gotten more hyped about it, Doom is my favorite FPS ever.
Doom is like beer and pizza. Who gives a shit if it's good or not, who cares what kind of beer, who cares what's on the pizza...it's beer and pizza! You get it and you love it!

Me as a k+m-only-player have not much experience with gamepads and couldn't play a shooter halfway decent with one even if my life would depend on it...

Yeah, I thought it had a BD vibe as well.
Some of the executions were gruesomely amusing though.

I've tried, but I just can't stand playing an fps with a gamepad. I'm sure I'll get used to if I really tried, but I don't have the patience for it, not with all the excellent first person perspective games on PC that I still have to check out

You tell 'em brother!
I really enjoyed Doom 3, so I'm cautiously optimistic for this. I enjoyed Quake IV a whole lot more though. One of the most surprisingly fun single player campaigns ever. It really could do with a sequel as well.
