I just watched my first taster of Doom 4 and holy shit that looks fun! Couldn't get any more old school then that!

If that game had any other name nobody would look at it twice. Sure it looks nice but so does every other AAA shooter out there.
What I saw of it looked fairly new to me.
Never played any of the Doom games, but it looks fair enough.
Those jumps would kill me,a bit unrealistic to take no damage.
Wouldn't mind that weapon in Fallout series.
Looks ok, but why are you controlling a tank in the game?

Oh right, it was probably played on a gamepad...?

In the first two Dooms, you could drop from how high you wanted, without any damage!

Please tell me which one because I haven't played it yet!
Looks really cool, especially the slowdown when you change weapons, but I hope you can disable that. Might get annoying after a while

Calling it now: All that shit was prerendered, Colonial Marines-style.

Maybe it's just me being cynical, but I always assume that all E3 game footage regardless of game, developer or publisher is prerendered and/or doctored in some way or another.
The monster design looks kinda... meh . Still, it looks like it's gonna be good .

You can remedy that pretty easily.
Get the free shareware version of Doom . Get a source port of the Doom engine [url=http://zdoom.org/Download]here and extract the archive. Take the .wad file of the shareware game and put it into the source port directory.
Now you can play the entire first episode of the original Doom.

Probably. I don't watch many gameplay presentations anymore, because I've been sick of the industry's hype machine for years. This just looked extremely "staged" to me, from beginning to end.

It seems nice, though if that is indeed a level of the campaign I would compare it more to a Serious Sam-like arena shooter than to Doom - which is fine for me, since I love Sam! :)

I really really hate those "glowing monster"-QTE finishers, though. Couldn't they just tie melee to a button and give to it different animations based on the context (example: a simple punch when the enemy is healthy, stripping a limb when it is near death, a kick when it is down and so on)?

Thanks but no thanks.
