skeletonbow: You just basically listed my "dead to me" list, although you forgot to include Rockstar. :)

All 4 of those companies make tonnes of games I'd love to own and play, but I have committed to never buying their games unless they show up on GOG DRM-free. The only exception might be if there is a Bundlestars or Humble Bundle that happened to contain N games I want and a game from one of those other companies happened to be present also, but I've avoided a few bundles like that as well. The only other way I've ended up with games from any of those companies since they made my dead-to-me list is if I've won them in contests/giveaways or gotten a free gift or free promo over time. A friend of mine gifted me Watch Dogs a while back for example.

I'm pretty steadfast about my rule too and have not knowingly made any exceptions to date other than the above. It sometimes hurts a bit when I would love one of the particular games they make. For example, I would absolutely _love_ to try out Grand Theft Auto 5 as I own all of the other games in the series and love them all - but I feel compelled to vote against Rockstar's policies with my wallet by not opening it. I might get lucky in a promo or giveaway sometimes perhaps, the game shows up on Steamgifts.com from time to time although the odds of winning are astronomical but there is still the occasional chance. I wont lose sleep not having it though, lots of other games to play and I can keep my ideology intact. :)
yeah Rockstar... This guys are quite good, unlike others in this list - but they hate PC equally. I didnt buy gtaV on principle - Im against rockstar policies too, and now read news about patches screwing mods and adding more encryption - just lol. even WB would be jealous (mods for new batman unlocks bunch of characters to be playable and WB likes to sell "play as X" DLC)

Fun fact - I got batman arkham knight code with my gtx970 purchase. but I hate drm on games - even on free ones - so i gave it to my friend, poor guy he couldnt even refund it, was happy before release though =)

I agree with you - my last game with drm I bought was Skyrim - had to get collectors edition, never activated it though. had to use "liberated" version. I wish I could play something like battlefield 3/4, or GtaV, or Assassins creed.. well but there are other wonderful games here waiting to be played =)

snowkatt: yeah i remember that little stunt too
wish more customers had long memories like that when developers and publishers screw them over

but nupe come the next game oh hai gaiz lets throw moniez at you !
This is what really distresses me. While Bethesda isn't quite on the same level as Activision, EA or UbiSoft, they're not exactly angels either when it comes to how they've conducted themselves in the gaming industry...yet, everyone's frothing at the mouth for Fallout 4 and is automatically assuming that it couldn't ever be anything but The Best Game Ever.

There's also EA, all they had to do was announce a new Battlefront and all of a sudden it's like they can do no wrong and will automatically release an amazing multiplayer FPS that will fulfill everyone's wishes and then some.

vemin: Some companies make mistakes and try to correct them.
But there are others like EA/Ubisoft/WB who just play the game "How long can we piss them off until they stop buying our games"
And the thing is, gamers as consumers are so fickle and so easily led that it's worked excellently for the games industry, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. How far will the consumer-base of mainstream gamers as a whole be pushed until there's some major change? I really don't know.

I will say that games like Destiny and COD are, I feel, good barometers for the rest of the industry. The market reaction to Rocksteady/WB's next Batman game/future Arkham Knight DLC, and Gearbox's future releases are things to also watch too. If market reaction/pre-ordering for these future games go as if nothing ever happened with these games in the present, then it'll clearly be an invitation for WB et al. to push games even further for more money.

stardustie: The question is did they fixed Arkham Origins? That one had some terrible bugs.
Personal experience: have beaten it and found no game-stopping bugs.

The game still has some bugs and WB said they wouldn't fix them explicitly since they're not game breaking.

Life is only once. I'd rather play them games I like than keeping my own ideology with 'anti-DRM'. Sometimes I also get annoyed when I can't play because of DRM e.g Steam refuses to start up and I have to troubleshoot, but the pros outweigh the cons for me.

tinyE: Rocksteady?
I came here to say
"Maybe he should just swallow his pride and let Bee-bop take a look"
Might have know you'd be the one who'd made the joke already...
:-D
They have to fix it or bin it, Steams refund policy makes a half arsed fix pointless, they will be hurt in their reputation and bank account, I hope they do manage to fix it, my on is playing the PS4 version and he says it is very good. All things being equal, it has a good base code for PS4 that just needs to be ported properly.

Steam refunds are great, I've tested many games that appeared bad to me so I refunded them. No questions asked, next day my money was back in my account. But if you buy the game retail you can't refund via Steam. Sucks to be me, because I bought the Limited Edition of Arkham Knight because I wanted that statue and the concept arts books.

Does the shop not offer refunds? I thought they did in this instance.

Nope. And believe me, I've tried three times with three different persons on that store. All said no.
And I said, "It's so fucking weird how Gamestop and Steam among others accept refunds and you don't."
They just replied with "Well. This has never happened before so we don't have any policy for it."
I ended it all by saying "You just lost a customer" and hanged up on them.
Harsh DRM, known for affecting performance (Lords of the Fallen devs admitted that much), tons of issues (especially due to graphics). This will take at least 4-5 months AT BEST. Probably more. And seriously doubt that the PC version that will be re-released (if ever) it will be a standard edition. At the time when they will finish with the PC version, the consoles will have a ton of DLC's. If WB wants some trust back, the new PC version should be a complete edition and nothing less. Also should actually work as advertised. Oh, well...
The latest is the game is expected to remain broken until at a minimum September:

Wow, they sure don't seem to be bothered by all of the bad press enough to place more resources on correcting the issues.

Hopefully, until September, the Goty edition will be out, as well. 80 euros is too much.

I would phone/send an email to their Head Orifice marketing department and outline your case politely pointing out that other outlets are offering refunds in this instance, talking to some min.wage guy on a phone (hopefully you got the name) is evidently pointless with this company.

Good Luck :)

I call everything that is "leaked" bullshit.
They probably will. After the press jumped on the massive amount of issues, the bad steam reviews, the total recall, the DLC witholding and the fact that WB knew the state of the PC version in advance and released it anyway, this is their only means of damage control they have left. They don't want this to become a case of "making us their bitch" that'll haunt them for years to come.

Me, I've already finished New Game+. It runs fairly well with all the bells and whistles turned off and since my computer is already several years old I didn't expect to be able to run it with all the pretty stuff turned on anyway. I'm just bummed they shelved the DLC.

Note that these kinds of situations are usually not the developer's or the porting studio's fault. The developers can point out that the game isn't stable yet, but it's the publisher who makes the call to withold it or release it anyway.
