No, I don't like how you express your view. Again and again in such situations you're always very agressive and nasty, and offer little or nothing of substance. It's had to stay away from you, when you do this so often. You're right, it's not good for the place to be like this. Which is exactly why I'm asking you to stop.

You're a smart guy. You're capable of better. If you'd just take a step back and look at it, maybe you'd realise how nasty you tend to be, and how silly it is this time. You're being insulting and angry over a movie you have not even seen. I undertand you better than you may think. I also tend to be very adamant, arrogant even in my views on such things, and get emotional. But I try not to be irrational and mean about it. And if I am sometimes, I'd much rather someone point it out to me, so that I can apologise, rephrase and keep having a worthwile discussion, than to ignore people and have them ignore me.

NIce reply. Like I said, I don't really mean to be too harsh of a dick, really. Just blunt, with a strong view about the topic.

I see greed and fear (2 things that lead to the dark side, and evil, and I believe actually do translate to Truth in our own existence, and isn't just some space-fantasy-silliness "just a movie" type of thing) that corrupted a great mind and soul and man named George Lucas. He got SO FAR off the "right path" that he was reduced to selling something very sacred to HIMSELF, he sold a piece of his SOUL. And that extends to me and something that is close to my heart, that I cherish greatly, and I know others do too.

I see artistic integrity, true and good values being overridden for greed and the perpetuation of many negative qualities through a mindless, unoriginal, formulaic, soul-less media that is what Star Wars has become perpetuated by a movie industry that stands for the same sorts of things on a large part contributing to the many poor qualities of our society. A bad movie not worth seeing making billions of dollars, costing millions, that has taken away integrity from something more valuable than on a monetary level, and, in my opinion, is not even worth seeing, ever.

Should I hold JJ Abrams solely responsible? No, and I don't. But being the director, he is the person I put at the head of responsibility and call out for what he has done. After George Lucas I suppose, who I am SO MAD at for getting rid of it in the first place. Do you understand?

That is probably another reason I come off so harshly. I do get PISSED. WHY? George, WHY?!

Again, I believe in balance between the light and dark, and that sometimes it calls to be cutting (how else do you "get rid/remove" a piece/quality/parts of something that you don't like from something that you do like) and some times it calls to be constructive. I know no amount of my complaining about it will change what has been made of Star Wars either, BUT I suppose that i do have some hope that by saying the things I say I make people think about what they are buying into and perpetuating by purchasing tickets to go see the movie and partake in the evil of it all. I don't mean to be self-righteous or arrogant, really, it's just my PoV.

So, I guess I just have to ask you all to forgive me for venting my anger and frustration over it all, I don't mean to do it at anyone here. I am simply hurt.

I also have SO many thoughts about it all. Again, it is deeper than just a movie. You can get philosophical about all of this stuff. Star Wars is DEEP with themes and meaning and all of that.

Has anyone else here read any Carl Jung or more relative to Star Wars, Joseph Campbell? Seen the interviews on The Power of Myth at least? I'm sure there have to be SOME people?!

Also, if anyone takes a look at the much larger expanded Star Wars universe (books, games, PnP RPG, comic books, etc.), some of which is pretty, pretty good, the theme becomes apparent. And it's infinitely deeper than pew pew lazors.

yepper, and the reason I will not see the new Star Wars or Star Trek movies is because the values that used to exist in them in other times and in other media, are void in the JJ Abrams renditions, even if there are reminiscences of such things within them, the lack and the negative and dark side now rule them, and I will not contribute to it!

and, to get really deep and to the meaning of it all, to me, it is all further evidenced by the overall majority of humans' existence throughout the world. The system (oh the parallels!) and society as a whole is set on the wrong path. It functions for greed and oppression. For a powerful evil sinister elite group of people controlling the entire "system", using, hate, greed, fear, violence, etc. to twist their ways to oppress people into living in ways that perpetuate it all. Evil prevailing because good people do nothing, with a small group of "rebels" trying to change things for the good.

Maybe I watched too much star wars as a kid, but it is how I see the world! Also, it is never too late to turn the path to light, nor is it easy to make the chances required! yep, view me as hugely arrogant if you like, I'm sure some will, but, it is the truth as I see it.
