Breja: I'd totally watch a show called The Ridiculous Misadventures of Snoke and Ben. I can just imagine Keanu Reeves as Ben/Kylo :D
TBH, I'd totally watch it too. Especially since Keanu would reprise his role as Ted. I mean Ben.

Hey, you attributed that second quote to me. It's not mine! :D

Breja: A painfully boring waste of time. And yes, I know I'm probably the only person in the universe to think that.
I don't like Pulp Fiction, either, although probably wouldn't consider it to be one of the worst movies I've seen. Just really tedious and meandering, with lots of aggressively unlikable characters. (Death Proof is far worse; nigh unwatchable, I'd say.)

Really, the only Tarantino films I genuinely liked so far are Reservoir Dogs and Inglourious Basterds.

Kill Bill is my favorite and then comes The Hateful Eight which is glorious.
I personally never understood the love for Han Solo. There just isn't anything special about him, especially considering that he doesn't have any special powers or (in Episodes 4-6, at least) unique traits. (In 7, he is able to precisely control the ship at light speed (like when approaching a planet), but that wasn't the case in 4-6.)

On the other hand, Rey (who nobody else has mentioned yet in this thread) is now my favorite Star Wars character.

Rey is a Keira Knightley impersonator.

I absolutely agree. I think the reason I hate it so much is because how overrated it is, it makes me overreact to it. It just pisses me off that there are so many fantastic movies most people totally ignore, but this gets all the praise in the world. If I was to henstly compare it to some of the crap I know it wouldn't even make top 10 worst, but it just annoys me more than things like Catwoman, that are widely accepted to be trash.

Han Solo is an egotistical pig-headed scoundrel who owes a sack of credits to everyone in the galaxy. His solution to everything is brute force (loses patience and shoots the comms, charges wildly at a pair of Stormtroopers into a room with a thousand), but he’s also brave, sentimental, and his character grows a lot during the original trilogy. Once you've earned his friendship, he’ll follow you into hell. He’s that guy who’ll say ‘you’re insane!’ and walk off from a group going into a suicide mission, then he’ll stop, turn, and then shout ‘Damnit! Wait up, I'm coming too!’

Han Solo was all those things and a total badass. Rey is… a total badass. I like her but what else is there to her character? She steamrolls every challenge in the movie.

That's a weird idea- liking characters based on whether they have powers. Han is just a cool guy, a rogue and a scoundrel with a heart of gold, the archetype brought to life by Ford's supreme charisma and screen presence. Two things Rey unfortunately lacks.

Exactly. And I don't like it at all that Rey just seems to be a natural AT EVERYTHING. Pilot? Check! Mechanic? Check! Scavenger? Check! Fighter? Check! Swordswoman? Check! Force-user? Check! Knows how to use the force to do arcane stuff without ever being told she can even do them? Of course check! I call bullshit.

drealmer7: This is the only movie I've ever read spoilers to, because I'm never going to see it, because JJ Abrams is "The Ruiner" (I shout it far and wide!!!)
avatar
Breja: Yeah, it's Abrams who ruined Star Wars. The movies were great up to this point :D

Also, please stop talking in threads about a movie you have not seen. It's childish and stupid. I hate Tarantino and refuse to watch any more of his movies, but I don't go looking for threads about them just to say that again and again.
don't tell me what to do

not everyone should be the same

I will say FECK the new star wars and JJ abrams as many times as I like. HE FECKING BLOWS CHUNKS. Like I said, I don't need to look closely at the garbage to know it smells of putrid puke and waste, it's evident just from the whiffs I get permeating the air all around. I don't care if you view it as childish or stupid. I really don't! AND, honestly, if you think his SHET is good, and you don't like tarantino/refuse to watch more of his movies, you are probably more likely to be childish and stupid than I am, but *shrug*, I'm not trying to be a dick and making those statements/arguments I was just trying to share my PoV.

have you ever read any carl jung or joseph campbell? for me, it's deeper than just a movie. balance. light and dark. good and evil. the strong oppressing the weak. an all-connecting energy between all things and how all of it is part of the whole and how even each one of us has both the light and dark within us. No one is truly good nor evil, our actions lead us down our paths and make us who we are, and even when we've gone down the darkest roads and done the most horrible things, there's the ability to see the light, to become good, to have redemption, to change, to simply do better, step by step.

so many things

But this topic is that childish, it has to be said. Next people will be crying because the White Ranger took leadership over the Red Ranger!!! Boohoo!
