adikad13000: Sadly, there's absolutely no mention of proper mouse and keyboard support. This is a big letdown, normally this should have been an instabuy for me. DMC 5 has already proved that these PC ports are below standard and just not worth it. If I'm gaming on PC, there should absolutely no reason to use a controller, otherwise I might as well stick to consoles.
avatar
wolfsite: Unfortunately some developers/publishers only focus on controller support, another example of this is the PC ports of No More Heroes 1 & 2 as they are also controller only. With PC handheld systems becoming more popular it would be no surprise if controller support takes priority or exclusivity.
avatar
adikad13000: That is hardly enough for games like these, certain combos just aren't viable, especially for DMC 3 & 4.
avatar
wolfsite: Very true, another example would be Mass Effect Andromeda were you lose the ability to tilt the vehicle nose on keyboard unless you go in and remap the whole thing...... true this isn't needed to play the game normally but one achievement in the game this ability is required.
Well, I suppose it is too much to ask for mouse support to be included? Some of the most voted games on the dreamlist are actually doesn't even have PC ports to begin with, idk how GOG is gonna release them on PC?

.Keys: I'd argue that you're wrong.
It really depends on how you play and if you're used to playing games on keyboard.
Forget mouse. Mouse is terrible for playing games like this because of the absurd ammount of inputs required per button.
Mouse has mostly 3 buttons, but you have at least 4 fingers that could be used somewhere else if you use Keyboard as a Fighting board controller.

With games like DMC, Rising and any fighting game on keyboard, you must rethink how you play with keyboard&mouse.
First: Forget the mouse, throw it away.
Second: Remap the controls for comfort and quick button reach.
Third: Start slow building muscle memory
Forth: If you're not fast enough for higher difficulties, play on easy or medium first.

Just have fun and experiment.

.Keys: Mass Effect is another category of gaming that requires a Mouse for playing because its mostly a shooter,
In that I agree. There are some games that require a Mouse for play that have terrible ports.

But these Capcom ports are fine for what they are.

By the way, many speedrunners use Keyboard only for DMC4...
It's funny you mention MGRR, since it has proper mouse support and it is perfectly viable to play with that, also there's DMC 5, God of War 2018, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black etc. The list just goes on. But maybe you are right on the remapping part, if you're considering that I'm only wanna play DMC1 or DMC2. But not only that's not the case, for DMC 3 & 4 not being able to use certain combos is just no acceptable for me.

Try it! Its indeed hard if you're used to M&K, but K only goes fine if you practice.

Also, from DMC wiki:

"Most DMC speedrunners prefer controller, commonly Xbox or PlayStation controllers. In DMC4, top player used Keyboard due it's preference, ease of Speed maintenance and mashing Echidna's Buster Sequence. Controllers struggles on keeping Speed because of the camera switches per room. Although, it is up to the player in the end."

And a good demonstration of keyboard only DMC4 run by Mekarazium:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGXDViCNrYs

The horizontal layout of a keyboard and how our fingers are shaped contribute for fast button input, way better than any controller layout can. That's also why top e-sports fighting games professionals use fight sticks.
Games like DMC/Rising work better with keyboard too - if you get used to it.

Problem with DMC4 and other hack'n'slash / brawler games is the freaking camera and 360 movement, instead of tank controls. No, im not kidding. Fixed cameras and partial tank controls work even better on keyboard, while games where you control the camera are terrible for keyboard.

DMC1 is playable perfectly fine with keyboard only.
DMC2 is not DMC, so skip. (Just kidding.)
DMC3 and 4 are quite annoying because of the lock-on/aiming and free form camera, but it is manageable.

Capcom:

I will buy this, first day,

SO PLEASE

Devil May Cry 5
Resident Evil 4, 5, Revelations and 7
Mega Man Legends Collection
Monster Hunter 3&4U
Street Fighter 6
Phoenix Wright

Give us the opportunity to buy these games here, too.
I could never play third person games without a gamepad. If i would go keyboard/mouse only... then i would play something like Civilization or other strategy games. Although, keyboard is mainly important for writing a text. I dunno why i should even play using a KB. Mouse or gamepad are by far my most important peripherals... i could play almost anything using those 2 input-devices.

It isn't enough that a game supports KB+M, you want every aspect of these games to be effectively tuned to KB+M, even though these games were never intended to be played this way?
What's next? Demanding that you can play every game that is not a racer with a racing wheel properly?
Might as well play something else.
Not just devils. Also we can cry. Since DMC has joined us now:)

GOG.com: Time to rock. Devil May Cry titles are here!
...Do they have the Engima Malware that every Capcom title has on Steam though? My purchase is hovering on that because if they do: hard pass.
I hadn't planned on loading up my wallet anytime soon, but guess today changes that lol.

I'd heard about these games a long while back and wondered what it would be like to play them. Heck, I didn't even know these were released as pc games haha. Since I'm a big fan of Dragon's Dogma DA and BoF IV, I can't help but be interested in more games from Capcom.

Though I'm not really good at these types of games anymore and sorta dread trying them out lol, I'm gonna show my support for releases like these and buy the bundle today. It's a good release price also (though I know if I wait a little while it'll likely go down further) and I want to add my voice to the community to help bring more Capcom games here.

So thank you GOG team and good work on helping to bring these gems here today!

And thank you Capcom for trusting in GOG, as well as supporting the site with more wonderful DRM free releases! We hope this is also a sign that there's more to come and eagerly look forward to it. =)

Ok, guess it basically says so in the initial post, but I have seen various complaints about the state of the port on steam. I take it, this is basically the fixed version and those complaints don't apply?

Also, might be a silly question for a series like this, but is there any argument to be made for playing these in order or could/should I just pick one (possibly even 4 or 5)?

You'll miss certain details, but nothing major. Just pick whichever game you want. :)
But if you want a recommendation, start with 3. :)

The chronological order is 3 > 1 > 2 > 4

Has anyone posted this yet?

If not, well, there it is. :P

Well done again! More timeless gems will join GOG. I wish more Japanese companies would be as willing as Capcom, to allow people to enjoy their Retro roster in such extent...
Jackpot!

After a brief investigation - there is no trace of Enigma software in the .exes in the HD Collection. There's reference to Enigma, as in the monster from the game. Haven't checked DMC 4 though. Checked with HxD.

Please, please, PLEASE convince Capcom to release DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition (not the vanilla version) to PC on GOG! PC players have been wanting the enhanced version with all the new features and improvements that console players got and those won't be around for much longer since we're already in 9th generation.
