0muffins0: I have Cyberpunk on my wishlist. Buying it on Steam seems like it will be less hassle. Thank you.
Word of warning though: if you buy the game here on GoG, you will own it - you buy it on Steam, you will only rent it.
Also, here you can play the game without the need for any game client. You don't even need internet to play GoG games, once they're downloaded and installed.

You want any bonus content for Cyberpunk 2077, just get the CET console, and you can insert codes for everything you want in the game.

Thanks CDPR, but I was happy to revoke that.
The only ambitions I have here at GOG are as follows:

1. Buy and of course play DRM-free games with offline installers and, if possible, the latest patch status.

2. Talk to like-minded people in the GOG forum and exchange ideas about this great hobby.

That's about it.
More doesn't always have added value.
Today, more means often "more complicated" and life is complicated enough today.
Is there any content for The Witcher 2 or 3 I would miss out on if I simply opt out? What would that be?

That's an excellent question! Sometimes a cigar is a cigar, and a small games store is needlessly coy and mysterious.
This is about CD RED account, that i didn't know existed until yesterday, right?

So since i opt-out, my GoG account won't be affected in any way, right?

If i got the message correctly this will deny you of all access to "My Rewards" that are only available for the next gen Witcher 3, i only played the classic Witcher 3 so i guess that version is free of CD REDs Creation Club content? and it won't be affected?

Honestly, this should be in the news section and with a less vague description. Just like the recent maintenance should be announced upfront.

I assume this is all for Witcher 3?

If that's the case, I'll opt out without many worries. I am certainly not averse to receive something for free, but I don't like having extra accounts, and this is just some gear, at the end of the day(not sure if it's just cosmetic or not).
So is anything happening to GOG as it functions currently or is this just for CDPR games? cause I have Cyberpunk on steam attached to a CDPR account which would explain the email, but nothing of the sort on GOG.
It's almost as if GOG/CDPR communicated this about as well as a golden brick wrapped in a single slice of lemon. Also, there's already a thread on the topic where we've already expressed confusion, disappointment and arrears.

You seem to like recursions. You have linked this thread.

I have fixed the recursion.

It is still there.
I opted out. I don't need or want any of the offerings nor do I want my account info "transferred" to CD PROJEKT RED. After opting out the attached screen popped up which plainly says my GOG accounts will not be affected by my opting out. Even more strange is the fact I've never used their "online features". Also I haven't played any of their offerings in years.

Also wondering if opting out will affect my ability to play any CD PROJECT RED games I own??? After all . . their games were purchased as GOG games IMHO.

"YOU ARE RECEIVING THIS EMAIL DUE TO YOUR USE OF ONLINE FEATURES, including Cross Progression and My Rewards, in CD PROJEKT RED games, as well as your participation in platforms like the CD PROJEKT RED Forums. We are migrating these products to a new account system, owned and operated by CD PROJEKT S.A., effective from March 5th, 2024. This consolidation will involve the transfer of governance of your personal data, including your email address and username, from the GOG account system to the CD PROJEKT RED account system.""

"What does this change?
Starting March 5th, 2024, the above mentioned online features and services will be available through a new CD PROJEKT RED account system."

Edit: For some reason they won't allow me to post an jpg of the opt out screen????

The text below minus the "Opt In" button.

Account migration

Hey stuff

Your current status:

A CD PROJEKT RED account will not be created automatically. On March 5th, 2024 you will lose access to following features, and all connected data will be permanently deleted:

- My Rewards
- Cross Progression
- CD PROJEKT RED Forums

You can change your decision at any time before March 5th, 2024.

Your GOG account and all your GOG purchases remain unaffected.

I received this email an hour ago. I don't remember ever using any of the features mentioned (Cross Progression, My Rewards, RED forums). I've never played the PC version of TW3, but I have it on my account. So I'm assuming that all GOG users will receive this email and that it will simply be sent out in waves rather than all at once. I'll probably opt-out - I don't need another account that I'll never use anyway.
I'm just going to ignore it. Clicking an Opt-out link just lets them know that the E-mail account is still live and exploitable. They will sell/create/migrate details anyway. It's big business. They only have to inform you of it, right? Depending on where you live, I guess.

If you don't opt out, they say that they will create a CDPR account for you with the same username, email address and (presumably) password as your GOG account. Obviously, a security issue.

If you do opt out, hopefully they will not create it.
