I love GoG, i already bough World in Conflicts Complete on this sale, last week

but other games are way too overpriced to me

For example Settlers: Rise of an Empire - Gold goes now on Stem just for 3,75 and 2,50 on AMAZN

9,99 here??

ANNO 1404 Gold for 3,74 Stem 5,09here :/

Ii really want buy games on Gog but prices must be competitive....

Please GOG reduce prices at least to this two game today, i really want spent my money here...
prices are set by publishers, not gOg itself.

edit - and it is sale, prices vary during sales. what you need to do is wait for next one.

example: Homeworld Remastered - £26.99 on Steam / £8.19 on Gog

Steam is cheaper because you aren't buying the game, you are borrowing it.

Yea nice theory, but be real - who do you thing have bigger chance to go out of business - GOG or Steam?

and you dont hold all games installation backups, do you?

Of course I do. Most people here do.
You never know. There was a thread (here maybe? don't remember) with some rumors that Microsoft may buy Steam at some point. And then you might be forced to buy whatever crap OS microsoft will release in the future to play those games.

Most sane people keep backups for their games' installers.

You should check this spreadsheet for whatever discounts the games here had.
Over time both sites occasionally outcompete the other on select titles, but typically sales are pretty comparable. As others have noted, the publishers tend to push the pricing.

There are some differences in how they approach regional pricing so I'm personally only looking at the comparison in US$.

In terms of the one's the OP lists, Settlers: Rise of an Empire had a n evenlower price here on GoG ($3.99) as a flash sale multiple times over the past few days vs. Steam.

If you don't, then there's not much point in GOG. Otherwise, may as well just stick to Steam.

*edit* Original comment far more harsh than intended

I like gog because it's a smaller business, and because it often has more stable builds of older games than other vendors have.

Also, gotta back up my installers so after the nuclear apocalypse I can use a gas generator to play Fallout 1 and 2.

This is not entirely true in my opinion. I mean, that's been and still is the main selling point for GOG games, but it's not the only one, not anymore. Some people come to GOG because GOG curates its store, some people come to GOG because here is the only place where games always keep working offline, even after 5 years without an internet connection, some people come to GOG because they want to fight against Denuvo and supporting GOG is the best way to do it, and some people come to GOG because they want to be able to backup their games even if they will never do it. I don't agree with OP, because I know that DRM-free comes with a cost, but I think some people around here should start thinking about GOG as a platform and not just a store. Kinda like Steam, only it doesn't suck.

And yet you compared Settlers: Rise of an Empire, which is on sale for 75% off on Steam and 50% off here. Of course it's cheaper on Steam at the moment, the publishers have put it on a steeper sale.
Settlers: Rise of an Empire has been on sale for 80% off here when it was part of the flash deals. Now that they are over, they changed it to 50%.
